Glad to hear you're back to your grumpy self Jabez.  

 

On the plus side I got a decent 4x4 White Tail yesterday in the first hour of my hunt.  As I was walking up to it I realized how lucky I was to be still able to enjoy the outdoors, gratitude for all the wonderful friends I have in CAS but mostly grateful that God decided to keep me here.  I don't think I've ever been so overcome with emotion.  Good thing there was just me and the big guy in the sky there at the time.

 

Think I'll go make snow angels on the lawn!! Any one want to join?

I've been out calling coyotes and doing some scouting for White Tail season which opens Nov 20th.  They're starting to move some here.  Rut should be in full swing by the time the season starts.  Since it's Sunday I get a day off to watch the Rough Riders & Red Blacks game.  I'll decide if I'm grumpy or not after the games over.

Well it looks like I'll be hunting the late Elk season Dec 10-19th if I want an Elk.   But on the plus side I was in Calgary yesterday to meet with the surgeon who did my HIPC surgery last Oct and everything looks good.  Still no sign of cancer anywhere so It's hard to be to grumpy!

I've been hunting elk and will be for the next week.  Unfortunately my tag is for antlerless elk and all I've been seeing is bulls as they go to water in the South Saskatchewan River, until yesterday that is.  It was overcast and darker than Toby's @$$, I got to my stand about 1/2 hr before legal time got settled and waited for legal time.  As it began to lighten up I watched 40 plus bulls, cows and calves move across an opening about 400 yards from me and towards some posted land.  Now my 7mm Mag will shoot that far, problem is it wasn't legal time yet so all I could do was watch as they moved across the opening. 

 

Kind of bummed me out and since today is Sunday I'm giving the elk the day off.  We had our first hard frost of the year last night so things should be moving to water in the river as the small water holes freeze up.

 

NOW GET OFF MY LAWN YOUR DISTURBING THE NICE WHITE FROST!!!

Oh no it's way to early for that much snow on the ground.  Up here it was plus 11 C with some light rain off and on.  That's supposed to stop over night with temps in the plus 10 range, I hope they are right we still need a couple weeks of good weather to finish off harvest.

Hi Jabez

How was the Medicine Hat Shoot, did you get wet?  I was busy Antelope hunting with my son last weekend so missed the shoot.  We spent the weekend at Bruce's (Mad Dog) place in Carmichael and he was our guide.  We just finished skinning our last goat around noon yesterday when the rain hit and by the weather channel it's not very nice down there today.

Granny and I were both grumpy when we found out the Canadians had been cancelled.  Oh well we're off to shoot with you folks in Granum this weekend then on to visit with our daughter in Cranbrook for a few days.

Hi Jabez

Granny and I made it back home from Palmers Gulch on Saturday after spending several days at my daughters in Cranbrook.  When we listened to the news Saturday we were amazed to hear about all the fires in BC.  According to Highland Whiskers Facebook post he has been evacuated but is safe.  We are sending prayers that both Highland Whiskers and all our other friends and their property in BC stay safe.

 

And yes it was a fun match again this year.  A couple of the stages were a bit on the challenging side with targets spread out in the trees and shadows.  Despite that it's still one of our favorite matches to shoot.  Glad to hear you enjoyed it as well.  

 

We likely won't see you until the next shoot at Lanes in Aug so until then stay safe.

Well now I don't mind shooting golf balls..........With guns that is  other wise I feel much like you where golf is concerned.  When Granny and I go to the Calgary Gun Show I always take a back pack.  A few years ago when we walked in the door the security wanted to check it for "weapons".  I replied it's to small for golf clubs, when he quit laughing the guard let me in without looking. 

 

When are you heading to Kamloops Jabez?  Granny and I are hoping to leave first thing Tuesday morning.  Should be at the range by early afternoon on Wednesday.

Spent the day working at getting part of the basement ready for paint and tomorrow I'll start painting.  I found that by days end I was getting a touch on the grumpy side, yup no doubt about it painting makes me grumpy.  Thank God I get Saturday off to go to the Biggar shoot with my grandson, that should get rid of my grumps but for now.

We had a good time in Medicine Hat, saw some folks we hadn't seen in over a year.  Things have definitely changed there, not a single skinny tube to be found.  I shot the match with only 5 misses and there were 2 shooters who shot the match clean.  It kind of spoiled our trip home.  We didn't have anything to complain about.

Yup they moved the match from the May Long Weekend to this coming weekend hoping to avoid the unpredictable weather they get in May.  I'm sure there's room for you if you should happen to show up, just shoot Dynamite Dick or Burnt Bacon an email of Facebook them.  They are trying to preregister as many as possible.

Got back home from running SAWWS's 2 day spring Big Bang match.  Man am I pooped, I sure don't bounce back like I did a few years ago.  When I met with the oncologist a couple weeks ago he told me that between nearly 2 years of chemo, HIPIC surgery for the cancer and dealing with the infection from my surgery it will be another 18 months before my energy levels are back where they should be.   But I'm on the right side of the grass so that's a big plus and I still enjoy being match director so I'll keep on running them.  Next up is our Last Gasp shoot in Aug followed by the SASS Western Canadian Regional Championships.   Then it's off to shoot with Jabez and on to the SASS Canadian Championships.

 

It's hard to be grumpy with all those shoots to look forward to.

Yes I read about his comment and thought what an arrogant SOB.  That comment more than anything he's said to date proves he really doesn't get it.  Must be nice to know that daddy would fix your legal charges because he had money and power as the PM. 

 

If it had been you or I we would have been in court so fast our heads would spin.  My dad told me that if I was in trouble with the police don't call him.  If I got my self in trouble I should accept the consequences and get my self out.  Then he would have kicked my ass real hard and I would have known I deserved it.

 

On the plus side I was able to pick up the mate for my Uberti 1858 Richard Mason conversion yesterday.  Now I have a pair to get slicked up.  I want to try them with BP so despite Turdodumb's comments I'm  in a Pretty Good Mood Today!!!!

I'm still working on mine and it's not looking good at this point.  Looks like I will be paying several thousand again this year so I'll be filing on the last day as usual.

My deepest sympathies Cold Lake Kid I only have 2 returns to file so I guess that means I'm only 40% as grumpy.  No mater what I hate doing taxes, seems like no mater how much I pay during the year I always have to come up with more.

That will do it for sure now I'm really Grumpy.  Today Granny suggested that I start our taxes.  Since I really didn't want to work on our taxes I decided that maybe I should do something more productive and cleaned up the winters dog shit in the back yard.  That's how grumpy taxes make me.
