    Saloon Ricochet… sorry.

I really do not understand this hate of the “ugly crossbolt safety”. Personally, I would prefer that over a tang safety. I always put O-rings on my SASS guns with crossbolt safeties to keep from accidentally applying it. But their appearance never really bothered me. Maybe it’s also a personal thing that I won’t go into here.
Sorry for the hijack. I just wanted to voice my opinion on that safety feature.

To me that safety is like a small skin blemish on a pretty woman.

My 94’s safety had a 1/8” deep by 1” diameter on the receiver’s right side. When the safety was pushed in it protruded 1/8” from the other side. It was the 1” recess that looked like a drained cyst which spoiled the gun’s looks.

I had a Marlin in 38-55 which had a simple cross bolt safety with no recess. I used your I-ring idea and never had a problem with its aesthetics.

  2. My first CAS gun was a 94 in 44 mag, but it had the butt ugly cross bolt safety. I bought it at a gun show about a month after my soon-to-be-ex moved out.  A Happy Divorce To Me present!

It was slow but solid, and I had a ton of fun with it.  Sold it after I slowed down on CAS shooting. Sometimes wish I still had it.

Good for you and your find!

  3. Yes, I know what makes the snow and have done so myself a few times.  But that’s not the ponderance of the moment.

With a week of snow on the ground, every spot of yellow snow still shines. On Jack’s walks,, he stops at each spot for a moment.

Why do some spots warrant a minor sniff and move one, some a deeper inhale, a few he buries his face in ecstasy, and he adds his own yellow to about half.

What does he glean from yellow snow to elicit such diverse reactions?

There’s a lot of truth to that line. I’ll be noodling on it today.

KelTec has its place in the firearms manufacturing market.  I have owned a few over the years and will say that they have all been reliable when fed quality ammo.

That said, I would not risk my life on any KelTec as a primary weapon.  I do not feel they are manufactured to be high-round-count weapons.

    Agreed.
I haven’t used this particular gun, but the KelTek’s I’ve owned were entirely adequate for low cost plinking and fun.
If a KelTec was all you could afford to buy, then it’s better than nothing. But it would not be my SHTF gun if at all possible.

  6. In the United States, it seems that we habitually walk on the right side of a hallway when there is two-way foot traffic.  If two people are heading towards each they normally defer to the right.

Do they defer to the left in the United Kingdom?

A very Alpo-esque question but the thought crossed my mind while transiting ATL this morning.

  7. Starting the car and idling it are what the machine is designed to do. No harm there as long as the driver accounts for the exhaust fumes.  Had an acquaintance who remote started her car not knowing her husband had parked it in the garage. Lots of stinkiness but nobody was hurt. Could have been much worse.

When your center can't snap the ball to your QB, in shotgun formation, after 12 games played.......you don't deserve to be in the hunt for a national championship. Except maybe pee wee football.

    Exactly!

I was rootin for Bama, but they lost.   They had their chances to increase their score and/or keep the ball longer towards the end

of the game but their performance was a little lacking on certain plays and therefore........... they came up short.  Just like when

the QB fumbled during a run.

    Michigan had their misques also.

Being an E.TN native (born and raised), I'm a Vol fan basically.   But if I were a high school star, knowing my families financial

situation, and a nice NIL package was staring me in the face, I would have to consider going with the $$$.

I wouldn't sell my loyalty to my country or friends,  but choosing between one college over another when SERIOUS money is

involved can sure enhance an athlete's life..... and in some situation, enhance the life of his Mom and Dad.

Now, for the record, I haven't been offered any NIL money to keep shooting at my local Cowboy clubs.

Matter of fact, they charge me to shoot with them.   Where's MY money?

    Well said, Widder.

I like a good BLT, but I always get a Chicken Fried Steak, sausage, or ham for breakfast. Sorry, but adding bacon to everything does NOT automatically make it better. B)

I'll get my helmet and body armour now.:D

I agree that too much of a good thing can be bad. I just haven’t found where the line is for “too much bacon”.

  11. I think the Marlin 94 in 357/44mag were some of the finest rifles ever made. (…along with the 39a, 336, and 1895.  I have at least one of each, all pre-safety.)

Here’s to hoping that Ruger can restore the Marlin name. I look forward to hearing a test report.

That’s some heady company right there.  Men whose inventions bore their names, changed the face of firearms, and live on way past their deaths.

Yes, I know Ronnie Barrett is still alive, but he’s worthy of being in that group.

  13. Empty chamber indicator reduces chance of an AD while she’s looking at her phone, making googly eyes at her boyfriend, or chatting with friends.

But I guarantee she’s been trained in an immediate action drill to flick out the indicator and close the bolt in fractions of a second.

It’s a good compromise in my opinion.  Others can disagree.

Almost spit coffee at this one, Doc.

I remember flying gunnery exercises at Grafenwoehr in the snow.  Our scout aircraft used the rim road to navigate to various ranges just like the armor and mech infantry units.  We were maybe 200’ AGL looking down at the tread heads in the snow and mud and thinking “Sure sucks down there.” as I turned the heater up.
