Yes, Von, 125 JHP bullets were available, but did you notice I was not talking about that. I was talking about Lead bullets.
Maybe someone some where made 125 grain Lead bullets, but I sure could not find them. As I mentioned, I had to order the 138 grain bullets from about 1000 miles away because that was the only source I could find then.
And JHP's were not allowed since before I started SASS.

But nickel is what we normally use to greatly delay any problems. Just change them out very couple months and you will be fine.

If you spray a bunch of brass but let it set for a few days, what is the impact?

I have one with a 5 1/2 inch barrel that bought when I started in SASS many years ago. I have shot it with full loads once just to see. The recoil wasn't too bad for a full Mag. The design helps the recoil by rolling the pistol up. But i would not want to shoot full loads as there is just no need. And the gun will last much longer with moderate loads.
I like shooting about 1100 fps when shoot mag loads, but not for cowboy.

Yup, if they are New Vaquero, it will say so on the frame.
A 58- S/N is most likely an original model so it will just say Ruger Vaquero on the frame.

Contact the folks that made them and let them know. They normally want to know and should send you some replacements.
I bought some from a vendor and they were concerned and sent me replacements of what we figured were about the right number (plus a few more) to fix me up.
If they do not respond well, then let us know.

The M9 is a fine pistol, although a little large for a 9mm.

One thing I love about SASS is that we all can play and have a great time. We establish our own competition with those we know or get to know. And all can join the fun with out having to worry about how well we shoot - we are all welcomed!
At the same time, it is great to honor those who have worked hard to achieve such great skills as our top shooters. It is a joy to see them perform - and to get to have them share with us as essentially all of them do so well.

As you may know, when the Beretta was selected as the M9, it was between the Beretta and the Sig. I think the Sig was a little better pistol with great ergonomics, but they both met the requirements. The Beretta was a lot cheaper, so Beretta won out.
But many folks always preferred the Sig, so I'm not surprised they won this time out. I wonder if Sig gave a better price break this time.
As to caliber, no "normal" pistol round is a good stopper. And especially with FMJ bullets! So I agree with Pat Riot about bullets.
The 45 is actually only a little better than the 9mm in stopping power either way. And the 9mm does give more shots, so for the normal shoulder, it probably evens out. For special ops, I would also lean to the 45 due to better training, physical conditioning, etc. But a pistol is still a weapon of last resort.

To clarify, Joe Bowman was an top notch exhibition shooter. I don't recall how well he sang. He passed away several years ago.
Jim Bowman did the song.
They were both at the Mulecamp shoot for several years.

Unfortunately Jim never got the credit and recognition he deserved.

Good question, Wade. I would think it would even out.
But I would guess the advantage would be you could load the feeder while watching tv, ext. Ten it would be faster loading. So I wonder if it really saves time. So it may make it more convenient for some.

As far as I know, the Chinese guns were all solid frames. If that is the case, their tube's probably would not work for a take-down 97.
I don't know who makes the new tubes for Numrich, but I would try one of those. Used tubes can have a lot of wear since they are not thick steel.

Although alcohol will work, it dries out the leather a great deal and removes important "oils." So most leather workers I know do not recommend it.
You do not need to soak the leather in water, just get it wet.
The sprays for setching seem to work well too. Just don't over stretch or the shells will fall out. You see that a lot.
