And we took the Indian off the butter.

But kept the Land and the Lakes.

They kept their land, and they won't give it back,

And they sent Geronimo a Cadillac.

    Oh, boys, take me back,

I want to ride in Geronimo's Cadillac...

Rubes Comic Strip for September 11, 2023

With all of the Westerns that I've watched, I've never seen the Grim Reaper in the background!

    Camera angle, I guess.

The director didn't want to pay to use his image (the price was WAY too high), so he's never shown. This is a great shot of how the winner is determined in a shoot-out.

    Brazos, you're confused?

    Alligator-vs-Crocodile.jpg

Alligators - top picture - have a wide snout, while crocodiles - bottom picture - have a narrow snout.

The crocodilian in the picture and question appeared to be an alligator, from the width of his snout.

Excellent photos for the comparison! Thanks!

I don't want to meet either of them out in the wild, regardless of where I am.

I've seen gators from a distance, and that is fine with me.

And I doubt if I'll ever make it down under to see a real croc. Or a magpie. Or any of the other killer animals y'all have down there.

Spiders and snakes and drop bears, oh, my!

Piranhas in the Rio Grande might be helpful. Better than a fence I reckon.

Well, Texas tried that, but the visitors started selling piranha tacos with onions and cilantro.

Then, the Texans started slow-smoking the piranha over mesquite. Served with sliced onions, jalapenos, and sauce.

    Watch out for the bones.

They finally over-fished the river, and now the piranhas are gone.

For its stated purpose no it didn't. For its actual purpose, which was to make a few people exceptionally rich collecting public funds, it was a smashing success.

    Sounds like here in America!

Texas scoundrels mastered that technique many years ago.

    Texas needed roads.

    Brown and Root built roads.

Everybody in Houston worked for B&R at some point, on one project or another.

    Times were great!  :FlagAm:

    Work Smarter not harder

    This is ingenious!

It allows you to apply torque in line with the lug nuts!

You can step on the handle, and it applies a lot more torque than a regular wrench!

I would want to fashion a base plate, so it doesn't sink into the Houston sand and mud.

Mud? We haven't seen mud in a month and a half!

  8. Here's the map for the Texas World Tour.

Paris to Italy to London to Praha to New Ulm to Liverpool to Moscow to Geneva to Naples to Athens.

1233 miles, or about 20 hours of driving.

Most Texans could make it in about 15 hours or so.

I excluded Odessa, which is out in West Texas. Named the same as a city in Russia.

Not to be confused with West, Texas, home of the Czech Stop, with the best kolaches in Texas!

It's at Exit 353 on I-35. Tell them Brazos John sent you.

You could have also gone to Praha (Prague).

And Dublin, for an original Dr. Pepper.

And New Ulm for the painted churches.

And Geneva, Liverpool, London, Moscow, Naples, Athens, and a couple of others.

Texas is so dang big that we ran out of common American names, so we went to European city names.

Then, when we ran out of those, we got creative.

Dimebox, Nameless, Uncertain, Gun Barrel City, and my favorite, Cut and Shoot.

Here, hold my Lone Star and my Colt, and we'll come up with some good'uns!

    Buckshot,

That is such a cool photo!

The old buildings, no sign of activity, including the overgrown rails, and the 'roo looking for the train, and Mama 'Roo waiting for Junior to come along.

Did you take this photo? If so, where is this located?

I really like the photo! It's worthy of a frame on the wall!

Thanks, again, for posting so many cool photos!

I was at the Grand Canyon a few years ago and meandered through the gift shop on the South Rim which contains Native American items supposedly made by Native Americans. If you looked closely enough, much of it was made in China.

When I joined the NRA, I received a nice NRA ball cap.   :FlagAm:

But, I've never worn it, and I won't.

The tag inside said, "Made in China."

The next time I got a recruiter calling for money, I told him about my sincere disappointment with the hat.

I haven't gotten any more calls from them.
