Amazing.....thank you. I was surprised to see that a lot of them were painted by an Aussie.

I stand corrected! There are great silo and water tower paintings over here, too! Painted by an Aussie? That's cool, I like their accent! And they have a great sense of humour! (That's Aussie for Humor).

How do these silos and buildings come to have these great graphics?

The skill and the paint must cost a pretty penny, so who pays for them?

There's got a be a great story behind them. I wish this would be picked up over here.

All we get is CHEW MAIL POUCH TOBACCO on barns, and it's been a long time since that was done.

Now, when towns take some pride in their history, and renovate their aging downtowns, murals might be painted on bare brick walls, and other artwork in other places, but I've never seen the silos painted like this.

And SO many of them! I love it!

Just a snake eating a croc

What a waste of a good pair of shoes!

But you could make a whole suit from the snake!

Y'all have some animals that I wouldn't want to encounter, regardless of armament!

Unless a Yank meets an Aussie, we think Fosters is your favorite beer!

Getting to quip with y'all shows us a whole different side of Oz.

This is one of my favorite threads!

    Keep on kiddin'.

    Buckshot,

I know a bunch of us Yanks like your photos!

Thanks for showing us the folk-art pieces that y'all have down under. Texans have giant armadillos, roadrunners, and snake farms along the highways, so we're more alike, half a world away from each other, than the politicians would have us believe!

    Keep enjoying life!

If I didn't remember the back story, it would be funny!

I seem to remember that the parents, or Mother, were in jail for the disappearance of their child while camping, saying that a dingo had taken the child. Years later, the child's clothes were found in the bush near a dingo place. I think the charges were dropped. So, not a funny shirt.

My Grandfather in PA didn't start as a breaker boy in the coal mines until he was 9 years old. I still have his carbide lamp from his hardhat. The world was sure a whole lot different back then.

Yeah, but they sure could play music! The 2 younger guys are in the Dillards, a bluegrass band that went to Hollywierd and played in a couple of episodes of The Andy Griffith Show as the Darling family.  They were American bluegrass musicians who took their Ozark Mountain style to California and helped lay the groundwork for country rock as well as for a “progressive” style of bluegrass music. Even Andy played his guitar with them.

I noticed that that's a current Texas Registration Sticker on the rainy windshield.

For that kind of wind, they must be up in the Panhandle.

Wind, tornadoes, heat, drought, what's not to like?

I think we had a Philco. I would turn it on Saturday morning, and go do something while it warmed up. If the station hadn't come on yet, there was the Indian head test pattern. When the station went off the air, some stations would play the Star Spangled Banner, and some would play a song version of the Lord's Prayer.
