This bird looks vicious, but what kind is it? What does it do?
In Texas, the State Bird is the Mockingbird, which is very territorial, and will dive-bomb pedestrians walking on sidewalks beneath trees with their nests. But it's between the size of a Cardinal and Blue Jay.
Your bird looks a lot bigger and meaner. And a lot more dangerous! Even the Aussie birds are lethal!
I suspect y'alls butterflies are dangerous, too!

...... a Choc Block and a Sunnyboy please
Did you also order for a younger brother or sister?
And how much did the ice creams cost?
Yesterday, while skyping with my Air Force Son in New Jersey, we heard music playing. Wife asked if that was the ice cream man, and it was. Recognizing the tune from the 60's, I asked if it was Mr. Softee. My Son smiled, like, how did you know, and said yes. I might be old, but I remember Mr. Softee's tune!
Another memory from the 60's, while on vacation at Rehobeth Beach, Delaware, walking to the corner store to buy a pack of Chesterfields for my Mom (Mum to y'all) and Marlboro flip-top box for Dad, for a quarter and a nickel each from the vending machine. The first time, I put the 2 quarters in, got 1 pack, and then didn't have enough change for the other pack. Went back and told my Mom, and she came and showed me the change slot, and there was my change! Can you remember back to when 20 cents mattered? Thanks for bringing back the memories, Jack!

The whole thing is wonderful! The Hobbit was great, but this shows his sense of humour! A very typical English sense of humour.
"... to assist them in celebrating
the Coming of Age of their Son... "
Assist in celebrating? Not "To accompany us in celebrating", or some such phrase, but "to assist"? It's like they are asking for help!
"Coming of Age"? Is he being offered for services that were not mentioned?
RSVP if not coming? You are EXPECTED to attend!
And then "Carriages at Midnight... Hearses at daybreak"? I'm going to steal this line.
And, this was before Monty Python. Even before Benny Hill!
I wish I had attended the party!!!

This is great!
This is for CJR's 21st birthday. He was JRR's 3rd son. Christopher Tolkien - Tolkien Gateway
For those folks wondering, JRR Tolkein wrote The Hobbit series of books.
I read them in 1 summer, after work, in the 70's. I couldn't wait to get home to read some more.

Last drinks in the days of 6.00pm closing.
That's a great photo.
All of the men are wearing suits, and most are wearing hats, and not a damned ball cap among them!

For us Yanks, from the Internet:
Devils on horseback are a hot appetizer or small savoury dish of dried fruit stuffed with such ingredients as cheese or nuts, wrapped in bacon prosciutto or pancetta. The traditional form of the dish is made with a pitted prune and bacon, but dates are also used, usually steeped in brandy or some other liqueur.
My comment:
Anything wrapped with bacon will be good!

OMG!!! Those remind me of the flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz!
They terrified me for the first few years watching the annual playing of the movie in the '60's.
Then I learned that they weren't real.
Now I see that THEY ARE REAL!!!
Do y'all have witches and talking scarecrows? And Munchkins? By another name, maybe you do.
Y'all sure aren't in Kansas anymore!

I like that y'all have a lot of John Deeres down under. Up here, I see way too many Kubotas and Mahindras farming American soil. Where are the International Harvesters, the little blue Ford tractors, and all of the other American-made farm equipment that I saw as a kid? More and more, the Bottom Line has turned out to be the wrong idol to chase, and it turns out that payback is a Bitch! Do you want white or fried rice with that?
Sorry for the rant. Things are just getting too strange up here. Koyaanisqatsi.
Thanks for the John Deere. Looks like a town that I would like!

I heard that y'all are having some of the rain that was supposed to be sent to Texas!
STOP it! We need it more than y'all!
Seriously, I hope none of our Aussie friends have damage from the rain or flooding.
Houston is so flat that the water just goes everywhere!
But at least our utes are tall! Sometimes our houses are, too!

Amazing.....thank you. I was surprised to see that a lot of them were painted by an Aussie.
I stand corrected! There are great silo and water tower paintings over here, too! Painted by an Aussie? That's cool, I like their accent! And they have a great sense of humour! (That's Aussie for Humor).

How do these silos and buildings come to have these great graphics?
The skill and the paint must cost a pretty penny, so who pays for them?
There's got a be a great story behind them. I wish this would be picked up over here.
All we get is CHEW MAIL POUCH TOBACCO on barns, and it's been a long time since that was done.
Now, when towns take some pride in their history, and renovate their aging downtowns, murals might be painted on bare brick walls, and other artwork in other places, but I've never seen the silos painted like this.
And SO many of them! I love it!

Just a snake eating a croc
What a waste of a good pair of shoes!
But you could make a whole suit from the snake!
Y'all have some animals that I wouldn't want to encounter, regardless of armament!

In Texas, they use a horse and a rope, and tie his feet in a couple of seconds.
But, I admire his gumption!
