I figured out a long time ago that overtime in Florida, and probably everywhere else, meant that you're working for straight time with no deductions as the 1/2 is consumed by taxes, S. Security and Medicare.

There was a period of time about 20 years ago, that if I worked 13 hours overtime in a pay period, I took home less than if I worked 12 hours over time.

I remember years ago when I worked at Hughes Aircraft I did a few hours of OT one week and I had a few dollars less that 40 straight on my check.
I was telling my coworkers that unless I could do 8 or more hours I wasn’t doing OT again.
Sone of the brainiac physicists told me “That is impossible! You don’t know what you’re talking about!”

I explained that I did. Then I proved it.
THAT shut’em up. Morons with degrees. Where could we have been without them?!

Communista Is an accepted English word, not in your average 5000 to 15000 word vocabulary, but it is in use and is in the unabridged dictionary.

      — from Portuguese.

It took many entries of it to end up in my auto correct dictionary(?).

One problem with Apple’s word library is misspelled words end up there as well and can be a real nuisance.
Take the word “and”. Often I will type what I think is “and” but what I actually typed was “snd” and “snd” became an auto correct Go-To for my phone. It took a long time for that not to be the case.

  3. Auto communista

Wanna hear something funny? I type “auto communista” as one word and my auto correct separated it into two words and “communista” pops up as a follow up to “auto” as I am typing it.

What did you shoot salt for?  They're mostly harmless and other than being hard on your blood pressure ( like my kids were) they can be pleasing to be around.

    Bud K is it.

I bought a manriki because it is easier than making one.  I got to be pretty proficient with one I made when I was on Okinawa in 1966, but that one vanished in one of our many moves.

Not proficient any more and I nearly killed myself trying some of mover from yesteryear.

Manriki, huh?  What could go wrong?
When I was in the Navy I was a student of Shorin Ryu karate. One of the guys I became friends with had a Manriki. He had no idea how to use it. He wanted my help practicing and I adamantly declined. I told him that I am pretty sure these were designed by women. They will get you in the nuts. It’s only a matter of time.
I learned this lesson through the practice and use of Nunchucks as a teenager. I got really good with them, but I can’t tell you how many times I clocked myself or hit myself in the nuts. I literally knocked myself out once.

Weapons on strings, ropes or chains are like snakes. Just when you think you’ve got it trained it bites or chokes you. Luckily snakes don’t clobber you as well.

  5. I hear that if that delivery guy goes to church and prays real hard God will forgive him.

Something much much better than pineapple  on pizza is hot dog on pizza. Use the pizza slice as a wrap for your hotdog. MUCH better than garbage pizza any day. ;)

Oh, I didn’t mean put a hotdog on pineapple pizza. That would go back to the pizza place or the trash, depending on my patience level.

  6. When I lived in Concord, NC and worked in Charlotte I can recall all the trepidation over the Cicadas coming out of stasis(?).
It’s funny, I recall them only buzzing / singing after temps girl into the 90’s.
The noise didn’t bother me at all. Perhaps it was a noise frequency that my tinnitus could get along with.

When I was a kid in PA my brother and I would climb trees looking for their molted exoskeletons (skin). I recall that we had about 20 of them collected. When my Mom discovered them she made us dispose of them. We hid them for the later use of scaring people with them.
Did you know that if you put one of these on a random church lady’s shoulder she will squeal loud enough to stop the minister in mid sentence and disrupt the goings on in the church for a few minutes?

Did you also know the best way to detect the two little boys that pulled an epic prank in church is to look for the two that just cannot contain their laughter?

Did you also know that oak makes a much more formidable paddle than pine?

    :lol::lol::lol:

    Still makes me laugh.

  7. Interesting. I don’t think I have encountered this. I don’t shop at Aldi’s.

I do recall some supermarket chain back in ‘83 in the South Bay Area of SoCal tried charging for shopping carts. It was very short lived. There was this unspoken revolt. People refused to push the carts back to the cart return corral. Once you paid for a cart you didn’t get your money back once you returned the cart. Also, they removed the little baskets so you almost had to get a cart.
I can’t recall if the cart rental was 25 or 50 cents at the time.

    Yankee Sailors.

And yep, it's a Starr. The pic seems reversed, though.

Definitely not Sailors. Probably Soldiers or Marines.

I would be more concerned with the fact that they're all wearing rouge than that a couple of them are holding hands.

Ah! That settles it. Definitely Marines. :P

Sailors don’t look to get photos taken on liberty. They’re were the booze and the girls are…not wearing rouge and holding hands with their foxhole sweethearts.

  9. This reminded me of a guy I saw at the gun show yesterday. He looked like he wasn’t sure what to wear.
He had a khaki colored canvas flat hat with some funky sunglasses propped up there. He had on a desert tan military looking canvas trench coat with the sleeves rolled up. He had tan leather fingerless gloves on. It appeared he had on a tactical vest under the coat. I could see at least two really big knives in sheaths on his belt. He had on jeans and Army issue tan combat boots laced loosely with the jeans tucked into the boots.
He had very little or no head hair but he had a gray handlebar mustache.
I was wondering what comic book he fell out of.

Got tired of pushing my way through big galoots.

Same here. Nothing worse at a gun show than 3 big fat dudes wearing backpacks hanging together as they graze the gun show. You get 4 or 5 sets of those guys and you have a glacial event.

Then there’s the inconsiderate d’bags that think it’s social hour at every row entrance and intersection.

How about the guy with a large “Alice” pack and carry a long gun or two for sale? Every way he turns he’s banging people with his gear.

One thing that just kills my lower back is shuffling slowly in a crowd of people. If I go back there for another show it will be when they open on Saturday or during church hours on Sunday.
I like the small shows around me here in WV. Never too crowded and people actually have manners and pay attention to others around them.

  11. There’s stupid and then there’s these people.

This guy deserves a good slap and a safety violation with several days of unpaid leave…No, I would fire him. Immature moronic acts of defiance have no place in a dangerous environment.
