[Classic Cowboy costuming]

Lighter weight chinks instead of chaps work well in the heat. The  5 item choice as previously mentioned is easy and can be modified (away from chaps, for example) to avoid heat issues. I know several CCs who never wear chaps. Botas can be used in place of chaps/chinks.

 

Drink lots of water. Avoid coffee.

 

Stay in shade.

 

Some mount a sun umbrella to their guncarts for shade.

 

Occasionally pour water over your head letting it run down the back of your neck... that offers immediate cooling. Or douse a silk wild rag in water and tie it gently around your neck.

 

All these tricks work well for me.

I am not saying the claims of this guy with the Jesse James items is incorrect, but I have doubt. 

 

In the Dalton gang hideout and museum located in Meade, KS there are several old firearms there associated with that gang. Provenance included, as far as I remember. Neat museum.

 

Also in Coffeeville, KS at the Dalton museum there are a number of firearms displayed, provenance included as I remember.

 

Interesting how murdering thieves get two museums in one state.

Flat triggers on competition leverguns I have seen and handled and they can make a difference.

 

So far I have not seen enough difference on handguns. Well, except for one finely tuned 1911 that is.

[Firing pin bushing repair?]

Was shooting a Navy Arms BP frame 45 Colt 1873 this weekend when the gun locked up. Upon removing the cylinder I discovered the firing pin bushing was gone.

 

I can find a part online (probably uses a Colt part?) but what is best way to install this?

 

Send in to a gunsmith?

A small folding pocket knife is what cowboys used and still use. Easily fits in a vest pocket. Most of us who use a larger Bowie style knife do so for style and some of us will hang equipment from the handle, like a cartridge strip.
