SOD Houses!? You lucky begger!
Once it gets above freezing and our igloos melt, we have a period when we have to huddle under the pine trees until the ground dries enough to allow us to peg down the edges of our tipis.
That's one of the funniest things I've ever read

Just picked this up today to match my 5 1/2" Colt. It's the Great Western II Hand of God model with the gold cross inlay (which I don't really care for, gonna replace with Colt "eagle" grips).
Supposed to have a real, sorta, form of case hardening and nicer blue. I can tell you it has the smoothest action out of the box I've felt, no aftermarket springs/tuning needed.
Best part, it was less than half the cost of the Colt.

I've been buying Uberti parts from Cimarron lately. Usually cheaper than VTI.

This is the hammered CZ Coach 20” right?
Yes

Stiff to break and cock hammers - sent it back to CZ, treated the return wonderfully, quick turn around, but though improved, still not ready to rock for SASS.
Yes, it is stiff to open, but the hammers cock with a swipe of the hand. I spect the opening will ease with extended shooting.

My first, and still my current BP shotgun is a Steven's 235 hammer gun. 30" full chokes that I cut to 24".

What was your Schofield load?
Lumpy, if that question is for me, I load 25grs of 2f with a 230gr RN 45 acp bullet, pan lubed with 60/40 crisco/beeswax, and crimped with a Lee Factory Crimp Die over the front band. Usually Winchester primers and Starline brass.

I use Schofield loads (25grs 2fg w/230gr RN) exclusively in my Colts and Uberti Schofield . The Colts will easily run 4 stages before starting to bind, the Schofield is lucky to go 2. A quick spritz with moose milk and a rag gets it up and running.
When the loading gate tab on my 66 carbine (38-40) broke I switched to my Henry and 73 to finish the match. I was going to use the Schofield loads but feared the RN bullets might cause a problem in the magazine.

By the time I got my stuff together, Sportsmans Warehouse was out of stock. They had the 30" version, but I couldn't see cutting off the barrel and losing the perfectly good choke tubes.
Didn't want to do online order and pay shipping and pay an FFL transfer fee, so I waited patiently. Then, the most unlikely store in my area, Modern Warriors, (which deals in high end AR's and 1911's and such) had one, and only one, in stock. I went there and found it was still in the box, they never put it on display. now it's mine.

My local Ace Hardware has had Winchester small pistol and small rifle for $49.99/1,000 for the past few months.

At amost every match I have attended there is usually a starting line to be recited before the timer starts. At a recent regional match I attended, one of our posse members never said the line, they just said, "ready". We had about 4 different timer operators and not one of them said anything to this shooter over three days and 12 stages. Since nobody said anything I assumed it was ok. I always thought there was some sort of penalty.
What say you?

Anybody try the wet tumbling method using a vibratory case cleaner designed for dry media?

Need shell holder #20 for 45 Colt.

I use about 60/40 crisco to beeswax, makes a little softer lube. I found you've got to push out the bullets as soon as it hardens. If you wait too long the cake will break as you push the bullets out and the lube will come out at the breaks.
I push on the nose and have the bullets fall onto a towel.

Hey Charlie,
I'm shooting the 4 Corners. I'm on posse #2. Saw you were on #1. Hope to see you tomorrow.

So I managed to get the stuck follower out by inverting the gun forcefully and letting it slam against the end of the tube several time until it popped out. Upon closer inspection I saw that it was getting hung up on the pin that secures the magazine to the front sight band. It protruded enough into the magazine that the edge of the follower would not clear it.
I measured the two and found the stuck one was a couple of thousandths larger in diameter. I was also less nicely finished than the one that works and slightly worn.

Wondering f second follower swelled the open end of the first follower? Thinking if you removed the pin from the tube support, the tube will be free to pull forward. If your tube support comes out make sure it goes back in the right direction. The screw holes in the fore end cap were drilled at different locations so I had to disassemble and reverse the mount so the screws lined up. GW
Just before I read your post that thought came into my head. I think that is the most likely reason the "first" follower won't slide out. I guess I could just leave it in for now and the next time I take the receiver down for cleaning I could remove the mag tube and tap it out.

You stated it needs to be an original, but not necessarily in original condition. If #2 is cheaper then it meets your criteria and would satisfy your needs.
Personally, I'd go for #1. As it's an "original" original, it will also hold it's value better.

Getting my guns ready for the Four Corners Regional at the end of the month. My 1866 carbine is in 38-40 and I only shoot black powder in it. I have shot it several times before always loading 10 rounds, no problem. I decided to take out the magazine spring and follower to clean the tube. I had not done this previously. So, I removed the plug screw and spring, tilted the carbine and the follower came out. Put a light in the receiver end to check and could barely see the light.. Tilted the gun and heard a clink at the muzzle end. There is what looks like another follower, but it won't slide past the threads for the plug. It will, however slide freely inside the magazine tube.
I assume when the gun was assembled the worker forgot they inserted a follower and put another one in? Doesn't seem to affect the functioning, but I would like to remove the part, just don't want to damage the threads.

If it's as stiff to open like they all seem to be.. set in living room and open and close it until your wife hits you with a frying pan. Then shoot a flat of shells through it. It should fall open then.
Thanks Warden, and my head already has a frying pan shaped dent

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm gonna go ahead and pull the trigger and get one.
