  1. Sweet! I have an older model of that with the funky looking hammer spur and the extra screw forward of the trigger guard. It spent many a year in a holster. It belonged to my uncle before he passed, I recently "loaned" it to one of my nephews and his wife that live on our farm. My uncle was a deputy sheriff later on a bank guard in El Paso for many moons. I figured it was better off being carried around the farm by family than sitting in my safe waiting for me to croak so somebody can sell it too cheap. "Mine" has a good deal of holster wear and I put a T Grip grip adapter on it to match my M-18 .22

  2. Two grand for a 1911?? That's insane. I have a custom IPSC GM and a highly modified Gold Cup, didn't pay that much for them plus the nickel GM I traded for the Gold Cup,. If I were to buy one today I'd get a Kimber or a Wilson. You can spend half that and get a helluva good pistol.

    JMHO, worth what you paid for it, ;)

  3. In my limited experience, flash suppressors don't work, noise suppressors do. Years ago I ran into a doctor at the range that had two suppressed .22's, and they WORKED! Sounded like a real anemic BB gun. Mostly you heard the action cycle and the bullet smack downrange. I opined that you could surely assassinate a lot of alley cats with that, he replied with a kinda evil wink. ;)

  4. I hadn't been in SASS too long, ran into a SASS couple at a gun show. I essentially bought a Cimmarron 24" case hardened frame octagon barrel 1873 NIB for the going rate and got a Navy Arms used '73 (20" blue) FREE, both .45 Colt. Sold the 24" to a buddy of mine, still have the "free" 20".

  5. Just a suggestion, check out the Glock 43. I bought one not long ago and love it for carry. Only drawback is it comes as a 6+1 capacity, price paid for it being single stack but SKINNY! I got some MagGuts adapters that increase capacity to 7+1, seem to work fine. It's a 9mm but just shoots like H*ll for a little pistol.

    My 2 cents,

  6. "Without" your finger on the trigger is highly improbable. A 1911 has a floating firing pin, theoretically with a weak spring, etc etc it is THEORETICALLY possible. Most likely somebody screwed up. Like all those accidents that happen while "cleaning" guns. As was said, the disconnector should prevent it. That's one of the tricks with a light trigger 1911 is to drop the slide on a round WITH the trigger depressed to prevent sear-hammer sear damage when dropping the slide. Most likely someone had their finger on the "go" button and accidentally pulled it when the slide dropped.

  7. BULLSH.........stuff! It just hit here. Temp dropped about 35 degrees and headed into the teens, 30 mph wind. Just went and topped off the bird feeders, had to come back halfway thru and put my Alaska gloves on.

    Antigua is sounding better all the time.

  8. I'm not that far west. That sound like Lubbock. ;) Many years ago I drove to EoT, second to last year in Norco. I was really wanting to see the mighty Mojave and Death Valley. Crap, most desolate country I saw was out around Pecos Tx. Arizona was a nice place after I got out of WEST Texas!

  9. I guess we can be glad we're not from Madagascar. I had a doc call in a script for a student from there some years ago. He said get your pen, it's the longest name you ever heard, I'd say he was right! We have a family at my church from there, their names are LOOOOOOONNNGGG!

  10. How about Clarabelle (my grandma's name)?

    Or John (my other grandma's name)?

    I used to think my Daddy's folks was strange. His Daddy's name was Francis and his Mama's name was John.

    Fransis can go lots of ways in lots of languages. As for John........ :blink:

    JHC (what has lots of wierd names in the family tree.}
