  1. Thanks there, CLK!! I reckon if you can rescue the thread from page four, the least I can do is haul it to the top of the front page!! I spent four hours in “registration” at the hospital last Thursday, getting checked in and finding a room. That’s my GRUMP for the day! It took less than half that time to have the procedure done and be back in the room before lunch the next morning! All good news at this point! I’m home and in no pain! I don’t need IV antibiotics to finish off the infection! And from now on, I’ll get a 10% discount on pedicures!! We decided to remove the section of my foot that has been so much trouble these past six plus years when a new infection attacked! Those bones behind the “pinkie toe” had been damaged before and it was evident that they needed to go. Since the toe itself would just be hanging on by the skin, I figured that it would just be another place for trouble to develop. ANYWAY! I’m home, it all looks good, and it’s likely to heal up much quicker and more completely now that it’s done!
  2. I met Don Williams around 1996. I was working for a bus company and he’d bring his bus in to have repairs done that he couldn’t do himself. We’d started the Milkbone act and had begun traveling the southeastern college fraternity/sorority circuit. Our actual first meeting was when I did some HVAC repairs for him and we sat and talked while the A/C went through its cycles. He was a true gentleman and just a nice guy. We crossed paths many times at various colleges and even sat in with each other a time or two.
  3. TEACHER!! I hired on with a major auto parts company a couple of years out of high school. Got the bid for a reach truck operator position and took the school from the Raymond Co. When the plant expanded, Raymond had me certified as an instructor so that they didn’t have to come out and train someone every time the crew changed. Caused all sorts of stink when they loaned me out to another shop that was union to get them caught up. I moved a forklift that was in the way of me doing my job and when the operator came out of the restroom twenty minutes later, he raised hell with a shop steward. When the steward saw who’d moved the truck, he told the guy to shut up and go on. “That’s the guy that does the certifications! If you wanna keep your job, you put a sock in it!” They never asked for me to help ‘em get caught up again!!
