I fail to see that 9mm was a revolver cartridge during the "Old West".  SHB page 2

Neither was 38 special or 357 mag

Or .44 mag, or .41 mag, or .41 spl, or C45S, or .32 H&R mag, or .327 Federal, or .45 acp, or .40 S&W, or 10mm auto, or .357 Maximum, or .454 Casull, or .460 S&W mag, and probably a few others that don't immediately come to mind.

  2. Screw the trigger screw back in, snug up the grip frame screws, and tap the sight hinge pin back in. ;) What logo is on the butt?

That's a pretty good price - I paid $700, shipped, a couple years back for a second one to make a pair. Maybe I need a third one... gotta have a backup, doncha know... maybe Kid Death will save me from myself... B)

I came up with L & R Hunter bandoleer holsters for 10 1/2" Rugers to carry them in, but the tiny loop isn't wide enough for a belt, so I made a couple belt loop thingies to snap 'em on to.

  3. I really can't remember the last time I shot any of my cap guns. I've got six fixed sight Old Army's, and with selling prices very seldom under a thousand dollars anymore, that's a lot of money to have tied up in something I never use. They should probably be going on the auction block.

  4. If you absolutely have to have the proper head stamp, there's some on Gunbroker, but in the end, it'll probably run you $3.50 ea, shipped. If not, you can make it by necking down .32-20... but you missed the window at Starline by four or five days. :(

  5. I've heard of Norma Lee Hitum... how 'bout Miss Norma Lee?

History lesson:  Some late model 1866’s was chambered for the .44 WCF, not many.

    Ya, like NONE.

The rumors persist, but the original action is too short for .44-40, and no mention of a prototype with a stretched action has never been found.

Technically, I suppose there could have been such a thing - maybe they chambered a barrel for .44-40, screwed it onto an action, and experimented with DEEPLY seated bullets - flush, more or less, as an empty .44-40 case alone is the length of a loaded .44 Henry.

George Madis couldn't document one, and The Cody Firearms Research dept of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West has never been able to document one.

  7. I've never seen, shot, or even heard of a W3G match anywhere around here. Depends on where you live, I guess. Population density. Some of you live in municipalities with populations larger than my entire state - we finally topped a million in 2012 and currently only one million, fifty thousand.

I have gone through everyone of the replica lightnings and several in some cases.  Taurus worked if you went slow like target shooting.

This has been in the back of my mind ever since I read it... my Thunderbolt worked well when it was new - I put maybe a hundred rounds through it, then took it to a match and it choked on the first stage. Cleared the jam, and it choked on the second stage, and so on. So why did it work when it was new? Because I was shooting it at a "normal" speed! I got it out yesterday and tested the theory - four 10 round strings without a hitch when shooting slow & deliberate, but it immediately choked when trying to speed up.
