  1. I just watched part 1 for the 1st and last time. Kevin Costner is a past master at dragging out a story. So many scenes that are not essential to the overall story. The audio clarity was good for most of the main actors but, the lesser actors spoke their lines without moving their mouths, I had no idea what they were saying. It seemed that it was filmed with a filter on the camera, there wasn't the bright colors. I bought it in Walmart for $5. My wife said that I can watch part 2 without her. I won't watch part 2 either, this DVD will be given away.

Costner has to learn to cut to the chase in his movies. I realize that this film was a mini series but, still..

  2. You will probably want to invest in a mattress topper as well. I bought one of the memory foam style toppers to go in my camper. A little pricey, but your back will thank you especially on the longer trips.

My wife found our sheets online.

I bought one of those memory foams also for our home bed from Costco and every morning my back says thank you. Costco also have those thick warm sheets that we use in the RV during spring and fall camping.. They keep you warm so you don't have to run the furnace as often during the night.

  3. I have that set. The series covers about a 20 year period and did you notice that his costume never changes. And, in episodes that take place prior to 1873, he is packing a Colt '73 with bullets in the belt loops. Still fun to watch though.

  4. In perspective: In 1918 the flu pandemic killed an estimated 100 million people, 5 % of the world's population at the time!

My paternal grandfather died of the Spanish flu in 1918 in the Stony Mountain Penitentiary in Manitoba and, he wasn't a correction officer, if you know what I mean.

  5. Back about 1990 just a little NW of Calgary, there was an old grave on a ranch. It was the grave of a Confederate Civil War Veteran who migrated to Canada after the war. The Govt. wanted to have it moved to a cemetery. Because it was a Civil War veteran, it made the news. For the reburial, a Confederate reenactment group came up from the U.S. to act as pall bearers and firing party.

  6. No problem Bob

    Take care

Not sure how to put this. The Cowboy Memorial page is a very personal and emotional thing for me. It represents souls who touched many of us over the years in ways that we can remember with smiles and tears.
The page is a tribute to their spirit and their heart.
I would prefer not to engage in a discussion of cold statistics regarding cause age, of death, etc.
It's just a little to close to my heart. Sorry.

Sorry Bob, Didn't mean to disturd.

  7. Looking through the Cowboy Memorial Pages, I noticed that a lot of these pards were born not only before me but, well before me. So, being retired, a little bored and a -32 windchill outside, i decided to do some ciphering.

There were 172 entries that gave both a birth date and a death date. I'm 74 and out of the 172, 159 were younger than me. I then began to wonder what the average age of the 172 pards were so, I subtracted the birth year from the death year and the average age of the 172 came out to 63 years of age +/- 1 year depending on the birth and death month of each person in a given year.

Certainly not scientific but, it indicates that the majority passed on well before their life expectancy age. which I believe is somewhere in the mid to high 70's.

    Interesting

May they all rest in peace.

  8. They're not that odd....well some of em maybe. ;)

Good one Bob. :) One thing that I notice is the lack of Chuck wagon races in the U.S. At least we don't see them competing at any of our rodeos or the Calgary Stampede. Wagon races are the Stampedes

's premier event. It used to be 4 wagons, each with 4 outriders per race, for a total of 4 wagons and 32 horses on the track however, for safety reasons, they reduced the outriders to 2 for each wagon. Nothing like being down at the rail when they went flying by, getting hit with dirt clods and and horse turds flying in every direction.
