Raining in the morning here and now it's turned to snow, with more scheduled for overnight.
Guess who just had the snow tires removed and the summers put back on?^*(^$^_)&(^&#@
Oh well, as the saying goes around here: "You don't plant anything until after the 24th of May! (Queen Victoria's birthday, a holiday up here)
Due to our proximity to the mountains, we don't put out annuals until June 1st. Got stung with frost too many times planting right after Victoria Day.
I remember being down at Fort Abraham Lincoln, ND and they said that May 17 (called Custer Day) was the 1st day for planting crops in North Dakota. The 17th of May 1876 was the date that Lt Col Custer and the 7th Cavalry left Fort Lincoln heading west towards the Little Big Horn River.

Is Jayhawk Doc's brother? I remember Doc's brother shooting at Rocky Mountain House when their Dad, Wildrose was alive but, I haven't seen him since.

AFS has posted their dates for 2021.
May 28-30
June 18-20
July 30 - Aug 02
Sep 10-12
I'll check with the AFS exec to see if they have any info on the CHAS. I'm wondering if this is the Edmonton group that lost their range at Spruce Grove a couple of years back. Will advise
The AFS president believes it is the Edmonton group that lost their range at Spruce Grove. He mentions the alias Jayhawk as being connected to it. I might know Jayhawk to see him, but the alias doesn't ring a bell.

Jabez, glad to hear your feeling better. Take life easy and build back your strength. I hope to see you at Granum this spring since Alberta Annie has announced their dates already. This morning I got an email from the Canadian Historical Arms Society they shoot at the Genesee Shooting Range, west of Leduc.
"CHAS Cowboy Action shooters league will be hosting two shoots, at the Genesee Range.
July 24th & 25th
August 28th & 29th"
Have you ever head of this group or shot at the range?

He was at the Canadians at Rocky Mountain House back in 2011 + or - 1 yr and he wore his period USMC whites

And Communist China is his wet dream.
Why else would he have allowed their troops to experience winter warfare at Garrison Petawawa?
And become enraged when NDHQ got them out?
Or leased former RCAF Penhold to them??
Is there more we haven't found out about yet?
Oh, I know about the musing about deeming the value of a private home's rental value being taxed and Christa Freeland looking for ways to dip into private savings, (That's not the interest on savings, but the savings themselves!))
The former RCAF Penhold doesn't belong to the government anymore, it is now a hamlet of Red Deer County and the name was changed from Mynarski Park to Springbrook, with many new housing developments. The old Provincial Gov't bunker was destroyed as they were afraid that an outlaw biker gang would take it over. The airfield is now the Red Deer Regional Airport. The old hangers are being used for Water Bombers and private outfits including a flying training school. It is basically a bedroom community of the city of Red Deer. We are I5 kms from Springbrook in the opposite direction.

Never really trusted Max's judgement (or his abilities), after his little escapade with the biker chick and the briefcase full of secret/confidential Cabinet documents.
Normal for a Liberal I know, but not so much for a Harper Conservative.

We don't need any vote splitting within the Conservative Party. That has always been our downfall. Besides, I don't favor Alberta going it alone, I favor all 4 western provinces and the Yukon going its separate way.
During the last federal election the Conservatives lost 6 seats with Max Bernier's Peoples Party splitting the conservative vote. The six seats wouldn't have made a difference but, if it was close, it could have. Just saying.

Is WEXIT gaining ground out your way?

We had our first shoot at Pebble Ridge (approx 15 kms SW of Rocky Mountain House) on July 18. It was a one day shoot and we had a two day shoot on Aug 1 & 2. Good turn out for both shoots. We had 30 at the 1st shoot and 47 at the 2nd one. Next shoot Sept 5 & 6

The wind chill today is -37C or -35F It's cold enough to freeze the nuts off of a steel bridge.
-
The Alberta Frontier Shootists had their last shoot two weeks ago however, there is still lever action silhouette at Trochu on Oct 6th if there isn't any snow on the ground.

That's a good one.
