  1. There was a post concerning the .38 laser bullets and targets available and this would be my hy-tek way to go, provided one can afford these newer toys. Many versions will include timing, scoring, misses, etc, etc. From my research it would seem that shotgun versions, using your own gun would be even more pricey!
  2. I found them all to have a very cold heart, but then, most of mine were found hanging around the dumpsters behind the mall!
  3. I keep getting messages saying so&so trying to send messages but my box is full!!! I do not know from which they com-meth but I am tired of walking out to the mail box and finding it empty ever time!
  4. I know that at upwards of $50 a pop you might not like to take a file to one that is brand new but if you file the rim flat on one edge a .38 version it should then work fine in that rifle. I have read where some of those Three Gun guys have invested fortunes on setting up elaborate indoor target ranges, fancy targets and all, just for airsoft training! I am not sure if he is still around but one of the regular posters here had a pretty nice laser set up just for SASS, a few years back, that he described here??
  5. I am sure I have seen these, even recently??? Planning to eat at the local Cracker Barrel later this week and I will ask the manager while there, he might even be willing to make an offer??
  6. Saw a nice used(???) one on Ebay today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/COWBOY-WESTERN-HOLSTER-CROSSDRAW-4-3-4-4-5-8-FAST-DRAW-BLACK-LEATHER-CFDA/153625567305?hash=item23c4cc2049:g:QAMAAOSwmvBdLTp7
  7. Nothing here that inconveniences me, BUT I do hate the way old Sam moved in on 'certain' small businesses so many years ago only to reduce those product lines after drying up those specialty markets. Like others, I do not go to Wally World for sporting goods anyway.
  8. something that might be a bit more practical is six of the new lazer .38 cartridges . The targets that are made to go with these look very interesting also! Im sure that a prettier model could have been found to make the video bit anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdZ9N8YdpaI
  9. Lots of choices, I would refrain my question and ask for some good maker recommendations as well as good modes to choose from for each maker. Several of the popular ones are big time 'off the shelf' suppliers, some are a bit more 'in between' the those and the full blown custom makers. You do need to decide where your game and your pocket book can safely go! Decide your wants/needs first and then you will get the better recommendations as to how to go along that journey. You really will need to expect a lot of choices.
  10. Guys I love the idea of reduced loads BUT it is seldom that I load anything other than BP anymore! If I do get to play again for a while I will also be interested in trying the brass cases and need a source.
  11. I am not trying to ignore anyone here BUT I do not seem to be able to receive anymore PMs and have been unable to delete the old ones????? If I figure it out I will make corrections.
  12. Let it be known by all that I just received my new (and it looks it) Rossi 20GA double and I could not be more pleased. It was in almost new condition with stock work beyond what was pictured. LQ Jones will get a five star in my book for this one! Sorry for the delay LQ but I can not get messages out on my computer thang do decided to go public with this one. Robby
  13. Thanks for the information guys. CLK, had I posted some pictures of us in the woods you would have seen that I was hauling that big ole gun around in a wheel barrow most of the day. Now that I have broke down, after far more than a decade, and shot the big Sharps I will probably be asking a lot more related questions pretty soon. Though I did not find those front inserts for the hooded sight I did have the one that was already installed, a thin tapered post version(?), and likely will just stick with it and get that Hadley eye piece for the back. Glad for those who advised me to shoot this gun before making a decision on selling it, it was a hoot to shoot even if my shooting was not anything to brag on. I am even now considering trying the same with the other big bore safe queen, an 1876 Uberti in 45/75. This absolutely will require an even larger effort as the rounds for it would have to be reloaded first. Problems, problems problems!!!
  14. I listed this here by mistake and have reposted it on the SASS WIRE. Thanks for your help Palouse and others please respond over on the WIRE side. Sorry bout that, SB
  15. I entered this post over on the Classifieds by mistake, sorry. Guys went out to shoot an older Pedersoli yesterday and though it is pretty old I had never fired it before. Something that has definitely changed over all those years was my eyesight. This rifle has the upgraded Pedersoli sights on it but the inserts that go inside the front sight tunnel are now missing AND that dang hole in the rear sights cup is way to small! I am thinking that I should still be able to get an adjustable aperture rear for this model sight BUT do not know where to look for both the front and rear sight accs., who carries such toys now and would their fit still work for these older versions? Just for info, this is an older Cimmaron import of the 45/70 Billy Dixon model and to think I had regretted not getting a 45-90 (This one almost knocked my wig off, firing from the bench!).
  16. Left more than one poker game in that condition my own self!

  18. Some time back I purchased one of Kirkpatricks latest LH style sets with the 'adjustable screw' feature despite seeing a few complaints about them being too tight. After receiving them I did think that they were actually made to tight in the throat for the guns I had specified, even with the screws removed completely. This, along with sharp cylinder faces, is what would cause the throat damage that is often seen on some almost new holsters. The fix was easy for me, I had a new pair of Ruger 22SSs that were a perfect fit. There were enough complaints going around at that time that I hope this would have been corrected by now but??? Soon after I bought a like new pair of the same models used that do fit my Colt clones perfectly??? These are actually very much made to be competitively cut down and I have not seen anyone lose a gun from them. DO NOT get very freaky with the cant angles and you should not have any problems with any of the popular models actually dropping pistols,as I am sure any such tendencies would have surfaced quickly and been addressed quickly. I have actually dumped pistols before and they were from the same holster both times, I tend to be pretty thick headed some times. That holster was a cart holster that was promoted as great for a starter holster, these were usually referred to as buckets. They did work fine as long as you did not attempt to pick up brass or otherwise bend over...
  19. If conditions permit I do want to try a match or two soon BUT it would be after the upcoming state match as that is not the place to experiment. I did go with a friend to his personal range on Monday and now feel less like I would be able to handle an actual match again but will give it a try. Thank goodness I am not in a wheelchair at this time BUT the logistics of trying to drag a tank along behind me, with attached tubing, on shooting stages might be excessive and time consuming! I am sure it would only be temporary at that.
  20. I stopped shooting about four(?) years ago and as much as I moaned about the passing of good old days it was, in the end, becoming a lunger that brought me down. Due to trying some new things over the last year I have had a bit of an uptick and plan to take advantage of it while it lasts by trying to fish and shoot again. Not sure if it will work but hope to try soon if things continue to go well. One sad part for me is that many of the things I used to lament losing, I would not be able to do now anyway!!! I guess what goes around, comes around.
  21. My local dealer says that if you can get a shipper to take it from you and bring it to him he will accept it and transfer it to me, which will save you shipping from your end. I think they will want to talk with you to make sure shipping methods and info is correct. I will send their phone number and address by personal message. I am an old retired guy and get paid on the first of the month, I'll give you my info now and send the money on the first if that is ok with you (and I would need your preferred method of payment). I would not consider it as a done deal until you get my money SO you would still be ok to accept a more immediate offer without offending me in any way, just let me know. Slowhand
  22. Just checking to see if you still have the Rossi? I have actually been biding my time here waiting for the first of the month but did check with my local dealer and found that he does accept from individuals, but he charges as much as two dealer prices in my mind! Perhaps this will get you a BTT if you need a quicker sale! 'Slowhand'
  23. Well I am thinking the Stoeger 20 weighs in at about the same as their 12ga but there are some that actually used a smaller frame frame. How about the 16ga, can components be found for loading these old soldiers for the holy black? It is my imagination, I'm sure, but some of these older guns actually seem to look the part more than our modern offerings!
  24. Guys, if one finds himself with two 20ga coach guns on hand, would they be worth reloading for as SASS match guns? Not a competitor, per-say, just would be doing it for the fun! One of the two is a 20ga Stoeger that I gave to me little ole Mother many years ago as a birthday gift.
