The carrier is rising to high.
Have you tried it without the extractor in place?
The second 2 pictures I can't see.

Will they take CC?

I really don't want to dwell on it

OP, how many SASS shoots have you participated in?
More folks shoot .38 Special, than .357 Mag.
If the rifle lifer is timed correctly, it will feed either.
The Ruger made Marlin 94's are outstanding.

Follow-up question....
Where did this theft take place?

Make, model and serial numbers would be useful.
IIRC, they have lots of cameras in place there.

Yes an empty resized case will drop in and out un-assisted. No I use a copper brush when cleaning. The bullet is a 125grn truncated. Cartridge COAL is 1.495. The round will only chamber upon a second levering.
Then don't waste money on that hone.
Like I asked before, can you post pictures or a video showing these feed issues?
Pictures of your cartridge would be good too.......

After all has been said AND DONE my be with your help, I have decided to order a chamber hone brush in 400 grit from Brush Research. Thanks Skid. PS it is probably good that I have two working 1873's in reserve. Thanks. Skid.
Will an empty resized case drop into the chamber with the muzzle down?
Will that case then slide out when the muzzle is pointed up?
Is yes, you don't need/want that bore hone.
Do you use a brass brush as part of your bore cleaning routine?

Great write up and TNX!

Will this rifle be used in SASS competition?
If so, you really don't want a tang mounted sight.
For target shooting, go for it.
Call Montana Vintage Arms and see what they say about the front sight.

TNX, BB for all of the pictures!

Yep, got one of those. Only thing that works on my serrated blades. Good for a quick touchup on others when I don't have time to break out my whetstones.Use Comet to clean the stones

A good welder can build that back up, then shape it with tool-maker files.

Really like reading about family involvement in SASS.

What are you doing for fouling control?
What alloy is the bullet?
What brand bullet lube?
More load details needed.

Never had one that I could not remove.
Make sure the punch shaft diameter is under 1/16" diameter.
Have you tried from both the top and bottom of the bolt?
Will this rifle feed factory ammo?
