I haven't needed to do that.
The only rounds I do that on is LR rifle loads and then only once in every 5 or 6 firings.
Do it every time.
The target will tell you to do such, trust me.

I wet tumble with spent primers in place. In the winter they go into the oven at 245 for at least a half hour. Summer time back yard in the sun, it doesn't take long. The brass will be very hot to the touch. I haven't had a stuck primer for at least 6 or 7 years. I recently tumbled about 10 gallons of brass in a two week period.
kR
PS I have wet tumbled with Dawn and Lemi Shine a few brass inadvertently with live primers everyone went bang when dried out.
If you remove the primer, before case tumbling.
You will also clean the primer pocket, which leads to easier and more uniform primer seating.

If you can, seat and crimp in 2 separate stations.
Make sure you are using enough case mouth flare to let the bullet enter.

Had the same experience when working on a buddies hammerless Sharptail.
Asked to buy a spare set of hammer springs(coil type).
CZ sent 2 complete sets, of ALL the internal springs at no charge.

Been having some bad primers lately; do the go-around once, twice and still no bang. Sucks the primers have gone up so much and I'm getting more bad ones than I ever had. So, it occurred to me, what if I knew I'm having this problem, do the once-around then open the gate, pull one off my belt and fire to complete the pistol string. Would I be correct in calling a malfunction and laying the pistol down and proceeding; even though I've completed the pistols correctly? Think I know, just wanna get some feedback. Thanks. RM
What brand?
What gun mods?
Try the rounds in another gun.
Today's Federals, are not as 'soft' as they use to be.

NO, not 'normal' in any way.
Stop shooting it, until repaired.

Old hammer is laying on top of the new hammer in the close up photo. It's easier to see in person than capture in a photo but the new hammer has a lot more meat on it than the old one.
In the last 2 photos the new hammer is on the right.
Your heavier trigger pull weight, is because of the angle the full cock notches are cut at on the new hammer.

Is that the new hammer?

I remember Mom getting all over me about the skate board riding I did.
That was before I found out Mom was a WWII, WASP.
