I am not a real religious guy, but the first thing I thought of when I discovered John Wick was yet another comic book character brought to life on the big screen was this:

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
    1 Corinthians 13:11

That is a lot of peoples take on cowboy action shooters.

  2. The big lube bullets probably do hold more lube then neccessary for shooting black powder in SASS. But they were a solution to shooters trying to put BP lube in the miniscule lube grooves in many common bullets that did not hold enough lube for a rifle.  I tried loading with lube cookies. It worked but was a hassle. Then I tried shooting every other round with a lube cookie to only have to load half as many that way. That also worked but it was BOOM, boom, BOOM, boom, disconcerting.  Plus this was at the time when they were coming up with the smoke standard because some shooters hardly seemed to be shooting BP or substitutes in frontier cartridge categories.

Real long range is a completely different story but I shot the pistol caliber long range events with good results using the big lubes. 100yds to 125yds at the farthest though.

  3. When I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, thankfully in remission now, the doctor commented that smokers have less of a percentage of UC diagnosis then non smokers. But of course he didn't recommend taking up smoking.  Other then a rare cigar I never was a smoker.

  4. After a couple of previous experiences buying cars my wife was in tears and anxious heading out to buy a new one. We have only bought 2 new vehicles. The worst experience was buying a used one at a dealer.

When she needed a new car (2011 Honda Fit) I checked out as much information as I could, digging around. I eventually determined what I thought would be a good price and also a lower number that I would try to get the price down to.  We are Costco members but the dealership said they would do better then that.  Their price was lower then the best price I thought I could negotiate. They did offer extended warranty, etc. but when  i declined there was no further effort to sell it to us. Now I'm not saying that someone else more experienced couldn't have whittled down the price more, but I was happy enough. Still have the Honda with a little over 200,000 miles on it. A little while later my wife was sitting in her new car and couldn't believe the different experience at that dealer.  We had a big down payment and paid it off in not much time. No trade in.

  5. With Practiscore  match scores in my area are usually available within one or two hours. Sometimes they are fully posted as you're driving away from the match. Also you can usually see the results before leaving the match prior to them being posted online.

  6. I saw a guy the other day with those ear lobe stretched out circles in his ears. Maybe 1 1/2" diameter.  He was a normal looking guy otherwise. Those look even worse when they don't have the thing inserted in there with the ear lobe just hanging down.

  7. I have a 2007 Tacoma 4 cylinder access cab. Pretty much the base model. Bought it new.  At that time I purchased lifetime oil change for $500. Have had the oil changed regularly all these years. One time the guy doing the paperwork printed out all the oil changes I've had over the years. He laughed and commented that I'd got my moneys worth. He said it pays for itself in about 3 years. Almost 295,000 miles on it now.

  8. I like to make a big drink with cold lime essence club soda, lemon juice and a squirt of stevia. Kind of a lemon lime soda. Or regular icewater with the lemon stevia. Also Iced coffee with a little milk or cream.

As I recall PractiScore has a provision to accept credit card payments for clubs.

USPSA, IDPA, ICORE, Steel Challenge and outlaw matches are almost all set up on Practiscore with credit card payments. One small club has registration on Practiscore but you pay at the match.

  10. They are the most comfortable pants I've worn in a long time. I have 2 new pairs set aside and rotate 3 others from them. I had other cargo shorts that fit well but just received 2 pair of their firehose shorts and wore a pair this weekend. Love them. I get t shirts from the kingsize website. Their regular t shirts are long enough untucked for me unlike many others. I ordered some extra long to try at first but they are too long. I wear them for USPSA matches tucked in and they stay in. Never had an issue with the zippers on their pants.

  11. If you only have to load the 38s a little longer to function, that's one thing. If you have to load them to 357 magnum overall  length 10 might not fit. Many shooters use 38 special loaded longer because it functions in the rifle better not because of a capacity issue.

  12. Recognize the achievement - don't denigrate the competitor because their accomplishments didn't occur under conditions they were not subject to.

I recognize the achievement.  It's when they compare it to the previous achievment, both athletes subject to the rules of their time, and make it as if the new achievement is greater.  Of course she can only compete under the conditions of todays game but it's disingenuous to ignore the differences  they each faced.

  13. I really enjoyed Firefly. Recently flipping through the channels I came across a program I hadn't watched. The lead woman caught my attention. I thought she was doing a good job. I finally realized it was the girl who played Kaylee, the engineer on Firefly. 20 years later now. Family Law is the show I think?

  14. She's great but it in no way compares to what Maravich accomplished. He also did it , obviously? playing against men. As far as college basketball in general very few left school early to go to the pros. A lot of great players played as seniors in college.

  15. I've seen interviews with her talking about singing. She said she was a good singer, not great, but that she could blow the doors off their hinges. Also she had no desire to continue playing rock music as she got older.

  16. We have had only antenna broadcast tv for quite a while now. Recently it automatically rescanned and we get more channels. I also turn on the captions. There are a few channels I'd watch but they don't have the closed captioning. When my wife is gone I can crank it up. Sometimes it works sometimes not.
