Cannot agree on this one. Many times an explanation or clarification of a rule or subject within the guidelines has been posted by a moderator here on the wire. Anyhow, if I am not correct in my opinion, I do believe at least a P.M. recognizing my question would have been appropriate.
The primary reason for me adding the P.S. line was to make members reading my post aware that I had already reached out to a moderator so as not to get the replies that I should do so. This part of my original posting has gotten more attention than I had intended and was not the primary core statement.
My question of clarification has been answered here by members more knowledgeable than myself and for that I am appreciative of the their efforts.

As if I need another project, replacing the travel trailer batteries are on the list over the winter. I currently have four 100AH AGM batteries installed that have gone way past their advertised life span. The trailer has a convertor/charger and a separate 1500W inverter.
We use two portable 400W solar panel arrays mounted on 50' of cable=800W total and an Onan 4000W Emerald GenSet.
I am seriously considering going the lithium route. I have found many that would work, especially one that is basically the same dimensions as my current AGM unit but produces 300AH/battery, 1,200AH total. I would also replace the convertor and inverter with a single inverter/charger, rated at 3000W or maybe a 4000W unit.
Also have a fixed 180W solar panel that might go on the roof giving a total of 980W.
So my main question is aimed at primarily someone that has made the switch to lithium batteries. Pros and cons please comparing the older style to the new. Also would like to hear from those that have strictly had lithium.
This will be a fairly costly change out if done. Have to change my solar chargers also due to the required higher charging voltage of the lithium style battery as well and all my cables to a heavier gauge, batteries and new inverter/charger.
My research to date shows that with the four 300AH batteries and the amount of solar I have available, I could run the RV AC unit without the generator running for the most part and all the interior circuits would be active without the generator running. IE: At a match or NASCAR race and being able to turn on the coffee maker before 6:00A.M.

Could someone here please explain to me the purpose and use of "Age Protected Category" as it pertains to a sanctioned SASS Match.
Apparently I have an incorrect perception of what this is and how it is utilized when signing up to participate in a match, state level and above.
I apologize for what might appear to be a dumb question and maybe I am having an over extended senior moment.

I'd "chamber cast" that chamber with CerroSafe alloy and see if it is over-diameter. You can get that alloy from Midway or Brownells, and it melts over boiling water. Follow instructions to make the casting and then wait correct time after solidification to measure the diameters. A .38 special chamber should not be any larger than 0.385" diameter near the base of the cartridge. Down to 0.381" would be the minimum chamber diameter (but you are not having problems at that end of chamber size, where chamber is tighter than normal).
The base end of the case is of course fairly thick, the walls are thin and can expand into an oversize chamber. Looks like your sizing die is reducing most of the case down to normal diameter, and the bottom of sizer die stops where that line and slight bulge shows on the cases in your pic. About three or four cycles of major expansions (during firing) then reducing diameter (when sizing) could be work hardening your brass and leading to an early separation right at the transition from head of case to thin wall.

Brother, you are way over thinking this. Brass has been reloaded numerous times. Natural progression of stretch and resizing.
The examples shown are pulled from about 2000 cases. Nothing wrong with three different rifle chambers or the sizing dies.
Just old age.

Recently a good friend was telling me that his wife's rifle had a case separation. 38spl case.
With that conversation in my mind, I got to thinking and the three watt bulb in my brain flickered on.
Is there any real, factual proof that the cannelure on a case is a primary factor to separation in the chamber?
In all the years of participation in this sport, Annie has had only one instance of this happening. That separation occurred at the very base of the case where the body meets the solid part of the case. And yes, she has always used nickel cases shooting BP due to easier case cleaning. 357mag in rifle, 38spl in pistols.
There is a lot of conjecture out there but is there any real substantiation?

Yes. For pistol calibers, the grease cookie is 1/8" thick. Even my 44-40 26" barrel '92 and my 30" '73 have the lube star on the muzzle. The hard card wad prevents the grease cookie from sticking to the base of the bullet.
The fiber wad on top of the powder acts like a wiping piston ring pushing the fowling out the muzzle.
Big bore cartridges, the grease cookie is 3/16" thick.
Added benefit is one bullet purchased can be used for both BP or that heathen smokeless.
We get absolutely no leading in any caliber we shoot.
32/20, 38spl, 357mag, 44Russian,
44-40, 45Colt, 32-40, 38/55, 40-60, 40-65, 45-60 and 45-70.

Shotgun load is 1/8" nitro wad over powder, then a 1/2" lubed fiber wad and the plastic cup from a modern wad.
Shoots clean, no melted plastic and no buildup in the bores.

Apple Annie and I have been using the real stuff since about 2001. Always have used coated bullets of some sort, molly or the newer colored ones with no problems but developed my own way of loading. Fiber wad on top of powder, grease cookie, a hard card wad and the bullet.
Works for every caliber we shoot including big bore.
We can shoot an entire two day match including sides with no fussing with the guns.
Just my $.02.

Question on ammo capacity of an Uberti '73, .357 Cal with an eighteen in barrel
in SASS Wire

I load Annie's rifles with a .357 case, a 158gr bullet at 1.565". I do not plan adding another variable into the ammo mix so will not be loading a .38spl case so please do not suggest.
Will ten rounds fit in the magazine tube? Google says yes but was curious if the real world here can answer.
I know I can cut a 2" dowel, placing it first and then trying ten rounds in one of her shooters being they are 19.5" and 20" but thought I would ask here first.
