  1. I talked to Ruby Ruthless about the new Range Operations Basic Safety Course (ROBS) and this is what I need if you plan to attend the class.

Go to SASSnet.com, click on The Shooting, go to training and safety and click on Student Course Material. Print it out, read it maybe.

Print off the ROBS Student handbook and bring it with you. They have not had anything printed up yet and they want any input before it goes to press.

If you are interested in taking both classes print off the Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) handbook and bring it with you also. I will be willing to teach both in one day.

You have to have ROBS before you can take CAS but you can take both of them in one day.

There is not a refresher course offered so $25 each for ROBS and $5 for CAS.

I am going to be interested to see how this goes and if any other instructors wish to join me you will be welcome.

If you do not have a printer let me know and I will print up a few extra copies and maybe get Randy St Eagle to print up a few extras too.

    See everyone on Thursday

  2. Right now it will be Thursday morning.

I am trying to get the new material to teach. I have looked at the Power Point presentation and it is pretty good but I do not have any of the printed material and I really dont have the resources to print off a bunch of copies. I will see if I get anything from Ruby this week.

  3. Lucky enough to have Jace on posse 6 along with his dad. Great folks and Jace is a fantastic shooter. His old man aint to bad himself. Also got to spend time with them at the campground all weekend. All around top hands.

Congratulations Jace you sure deserve it.

  4. So those that will be camping, we will be grilling/cooking dead things on Wednesday since folks will be straggling in. Bring what you want to eat maybe something for sides. I will have some burgers and dogs.

Thursday I will have a big pot of spaghetti if others would like to bring sides, bread, maybe some salad.  We will eat until it is gone.

Friday how about pot luck style food. Bring what you got. Can also fire the griddle and grill back up at any time.

Saturday if there are leftovers we will eat them if not we may be eating sandwiches.

  5. I am sure we will be sitting up a kitchen under the pavilion, we will have a few "you kill it we cook it” nights. If you have something you want to share it will not be wasted. I remember Evil Bob sharing his Oreos with us one afternoon.

We will not have fish this year, so looks like some nights of burgers, steaks, and dogs and maybe some chicken.

See everyone in a few days.

  6. Not exactly new, we have had Outlaw at State and Regional levels for 20 years or so. Slick had it at his shoot out back in the days. Just was slow moving west.

I would recommend practicing with shotgun, bring extra shells.

Yeah, I never bought into the mosey.

Seems like there's always 3 or 4, Outlaws, Lawmen, shopkeepers, bank managers, women and maybe even a kid or two shooting at me. I run just as fast as I can.

And how is that different than a mosey?

  8. Alright, if we are going to do this we are going to do it right, These are the rules off of the Outlaw Shooter page. These are the rules that have applied across all the clubs I have shot with and/or talked to about Outlaw.

All SASS rules apply. (We play by SASS rules if we want to be ranked in the main match)

First and foremost, safety, safety, safety.

Second, pistols must be shot one handed—you’ve never seen one of your heroes in the movies hold and cock a gun with two hands—so its Duelist, Double duelist, or Gunfighter style only. (Ladies can shoot two handed because there are two movies that have lady Outlaws shooting two handed, cant argue with the movies)

Much like the Gunfighter category, Outlaw shooting is NOT for the novice shooter; proficiency in gun handling is a must before trying this class!

Third, you must hold the pistols and shotgun below chest level with elbows bent, without aiming or sighting down the barrel.

Fourth, the rifle may be aimed and shot from the shoulder if the shooter prefers. (There are ranges that do not allow hip shooting the rifle, know the range rules)

Fifth, any SASS approved caliber is allowed. (The Outlaws started to disallow 32s but realized no respectable Outlaw would use something that small—unless it was a pocket pistol!)

As always, local range rules apply!

That’s about it for the rules of the Outlaw category, except to HAVE FUN. Once you try it, it’s hard to shoot (and miss!) any other way.

  10. Creeker, keep with Gunfighter, leave us Outlaws alone.

I would be great to see you. Cant remember if we have met or not. It is always good to meet someone for the second time.
