Yep same here. Be careful with the Buckaroo knot if it gets hung up it only gets tighter.

A buckaroo knot will get tighter but it will not get tighter around your neck.

... The 4-square or buckaroo knot is great, as it'll come loose with a simple yank...

Nope!  It just gets tighter.  If it comes loose with a pull then you did it wrong.  That happened to me a number of times when learning to tie it.  :)

That's what I do.  Commonly called a buckaroo knot or 4-square knot.  There are places on the web that show how to tie it, but it did take me some practice.  I keep remembering an old Pall Mall commercial: "over, under, around and through"  :)

I watch a lot of SASS on Youtube, our (down here) pistol targets are always 7-10 yards and rifle targets 13+ yards. It seems like a lot of U.S clubs shoot a lot closer than that? (Or its the camera angle that makes the targets look closer????).

Well Burp it could be camera angle when some of the targets are so big! :)  But really, yes, a lot of clubs are closer.  Most of the clubs around here would have that as a maximum distance but most stages are closer than that.  And then a few clubs are much closer!  So it just depends on what match and where that you are watching.  There are some clubs that will move them in for the big matches.

  5. If you do get any misfires, turn the strain screw in a quarter turn at a time.  If you need a main spring, a stock spring can be had from VTI, Cimarron, Taylors, Dixie.  I'm not sure if anyone is selling a reduced power spring these days, but if so someone will know.

You may have done this but I always had better luck loosening the main spring screw, tightening down the tension screw some and then tighten back the main spring screw.

    Randy

Nate Kiowa Jones has mentioned in the past how he likes to adjust the screws like that.  Of course, I don't recall the exact detail, but it was something like:

    1. Loosen both screws.

    2. Tighten the main screw all the way, then back it off one turn (?).

    3. Tighten the strain screw until it just touches the main spring.

    4. Tighten the main screw.

    Maybe NKJ will chime in.

Heck CC, my Stoeger will fall open when I release the latch... and it has stock springs in it... (although it does have 38 years of use)!:P

(Forgive the mess and bare feet... but am preparing for a range day)... tomorrow!

uh, can't say for sure on the first opening, but on the 2nd and 3rd time the hammers are already cocked. (all I got was audio, had to download the file to see the video).  Does your calendar still say April 1 ??

  8. Natchez has their 10% off (on $99 +), last day today, code P240325.  If you are buying a large amount, say 10K primers, this saves you much more than free hazmat or free shipping.  Their primer prices are all over the place, BUT, Federal small pistol are $74.99.

Would it be possible for someone to post the link for the spreadsheet? I watched the vid on my phone and saw no link!

    Much Obliged

There was a link in the vid I looked at, but not clickable - have to write it down.  But there is a clickable link in the video description.

Here it is again: https://rb.gy/jc7rgt  (if you click this link it will ask if you want to leave Youtube.  Click "Go To Site")

  10. Yes, the gripframes should swap fine.

Did you check VTI / Cimarron / Taylors / Dixie ?  Also, I think the triggerguard is the same so you might not need that.  If you can get an assembly it would be best, otherwise you will probably need to do grip fitting which will go through the Urethane finish (good excuse to give it an oil finish).  Or just get the gripframe and pick up some aftermarket grips from numerous sources.

On the other hand, try putting a WTT on the classifieds.  Some folks like those Birdsheads and might trade you.  That's how I got Navy grips I wanted when I had Army grips.

  11. I bought some Ginex from Tell Sackett a couple years ago, just to try them out.  Not as soft as Federals, but they were okay.  What I did to keep the sleeves from coming out was to stuff them sideways into a shotshell box.  Tight fit, but it worked. :)

Springs have a life measured in cycles. Leaving them compressed will not shorten the life. Repeatedly cycling them uses them up.

So, what you are saying is that my lack of practice is actually good for my shotgun springs?  Good to know!  :)

    Howdy Show,

I don't know about Baikal models, but on some doubles, if you hold both triggers back while closing the action (empty) the hammers will not be cocked when the action is closed. Then release the triggers. That has worked for me on double trigger guns.

    Rev. Chase

Just tried that on my Baikal.  Seems to work.  There was a very light click when one trigger was pulled, no sound when the 2nd trigger was pulled.  Then when the action is closed, they are not cocked.
