When I moved out at 17, there was a place called the Hot Dog Shoppe located a half block away. Really loved those chili dogs back then. I'd eat four of them if they were on special!

I saw the Joey Chestnut news story yesterday, right next to it was a story that eating one hot dog a day will kill you.... eventually.

Eating contests of that nature are somewhat disgusting. I have no idea why anyone would want to watch someone eating hot dogs like a dog eats 'stolen' food.

The female winner is a Florida Woman!

Thought I'd throw that out there......Ya'll.

She ate 33 but her record

is 51.  Must have been the weather 🙄

I was more aware of Larry Doby than I was of Jackie Robinson, primarily because I was a Chicago White Sox fan, and Cleveland would play the White Sox in Comisky Park.  Great player, Larry Doby!

One of my favorites when I was a kid! At that time I wasn’t aware he was the first black player in the AL! We didn’t care about stuff like that he was just a good ball player and he was on our team!

Isn't a piano a "percussion" instrument?  And a xylophone?  And a rack of chimes?  Or bells?

A piano is classified as a string and percussion instrument. Xylophone, Vibraphone, Marimba are all percussion instruments but in their own class because they can produce musical tones, bells as well.
Im talking drums, cymbals, bongos, congas, castanets, etc. and yes spoons where there is no musical tones at all.

Sam Walton would cry his eyes out if he could see what his grand idea has become.

So would Joe Albertson and others whose ideas have been "corporatized" into mega-money makers and the customer be damned.

Like it or not WalMart is one of the most successful businesses in the world. I think Sam Walton would be proud!

They don’t! And they don’t clean either.

My wife reminded me of the other 2 Aldi’s I visited in Austria and Sacramento. That makes 4 filthy unkempt stores.

The Aldis here (3 of them within a 5-6 miles radius) are all super clean. Well stocked and the people are very friendly.

When did Aldi's start bagging groceries?

It's been several years since I've been to one, but the last time I was there the groceries were run just like Sam's - they took it out of the cart, scanned it, and put it in another cart. If you wanted it bagged you needed to have brought bags with you, and there's a shelf over there where you could push the cart over and set the groceries up on the shelf and then bag them.

Also they don't take credit cards - cash only.

The ones here take cash or credit cards.

I have been in 2 Aldi’s. That was once too many.

I tend to shy away from any store that one has to have a cultural knowledge base to participate in a store’s shopping experience. #%$& That!

That and both stores looked like the cleaning crew was part of the grocery bagging team.

    Cultural knowledge base? I don’t understand. 🙄 It’s a grocery store!

  8. I normally go there for just a few items so I bring in my own bag. Their prices are significantly lower than most grocery stores around here and the stores are clean and well maintained. There’s 3 stores within 5 miles of me. Coffee, snacks, lunchmeat and chicken, beef are all good deals. If I do get a cart I put my groceries in my car and return the cart and I leave the quarter in there for the next person.
