I like it! It is a great tribute to both Mother Nature and man.
Can I get an autographed copy?

I see no viable use for them.
I want one.

I've seen that done in Utah. What's fun is when your beagle chases them all over the yard, even after the cats have gone in the house to get warm.
Beagles are very smart, but sometimes they are out of their league. They just lock into "hunt and chase mode" and go until they drop or you succeed in getting their attention and call them home.

Now that I just might have to take you up on some day, sir! I am all the way down in Casa Grande right now.
Abilene Slim, my gunsmith buddy showed me how to make BP, it ain't hard. The only thing I lack is the 20 ton press to puck it, so mine is about 60% the strength of regular BP. Interestingly enough, toilet paper makes GREAT charcoal. I've even loaded 45 Colt cartridges with home made powder.
I thought Big Lube molds were no longer around? I'd love to have one, but instead I use lubricated wads and such, seems to work pretty good so far. I also don't do it too much. This is the one I use, hard lubed with SPG.
I'm just the new kid on the block, I know. Always up for better tips and tricks.
As if no one else was EVER "a new kid on the block"! You'll outgrow it.
Looking forward to meeting you (Isn't Casa Grande far enough down to be part of Mexico?)

I read that when Roy was just about to pass away that Dale of course was with him. She left the room for a minute. When she returned he had passed. She said he looked like a little boy with a smile on his face.
We stopped on the way back from Utah. Had been by there before but never stopped. Inside was a group of people talking to Dale Evans. One asked if her husband was around. She said "He's out back playing Roy Rogers."
I had a new light gray hat that they both autographed (it was stolen a year or so later at The Gunfight Behind The Jersey Lily... a hanging offense). Very nice people and I shot with the Double R Bar Regulators for a number of years.

Being retired has freed me in so many ways.
I don't HAVE TO do anything. No one can hire me, fire me, promote or demote me, chastise me, or tell me what to do. I can look at a job and say "Okay, I have to do that, but it can wait until tomorrow...or next week...or forever", or I can hire it done. I can do it my way whether or not anyone else gives a damn.
I have dropped over 100 pounds in the last 28 months and still eat the same things I did before, just not as much or as often.
I can make remarks to people when I want to, play with kids and dogs, dress like I'm used to and comfortable., and argue or not. If I want something I can get it and if I don't like it I can get rid of it any way I desire.
I have made some enemies and lost some friends over this but I'm still blessed by a huge herd of good people who stand by me. I have told young ladies how pretty they are and get away with it because I'm not after their bodies.....and I am sincere. I have explained to some people that they are NOT the most important people in the world..nor even in this conversation. Some have challenged me, some have let it go, and one cried.
Being retired lets me be me, unabashed, unrepentant, and uncaring of the results, happy most of the time, and grateful for such goodness in my life.
Here I am. Stop by and I'll make coffee or lunch. If you need help I'll do what I can. If you need a shoulder, I still have two left.

You're confusing the branches. It's AWOL in the Army. UA is a Navy / Marine Corps term. It's not about the terms changing; it's about each branch speaking its own language.

Beat me to it.
About the 30 days: when I became a Company Commander in 1967 I inherited an Apache jerk that had been AWOL for most of a year.
I asked why he hadn't listed as a deserter I was told that the Army could not prove that he had left the island and they couldn't declare him a deserter.
A year and short change later while I was in 'Nam the Army changed that ruling to what it is today.

Dave, I don't know where in Arizona you live, but if you show up in the Prescott / Prescott Valley area some Thursday morning about 6:30 am I'll be happy to introduce you to a crazy bunch of cowboy folks at Zeke's Eatin' Place, and even buy your breakfast. Let me know when you're coming.

It takes a real storm to make me remove the cobwebs from the snow shovel.
The second winter we were here it snowed about 40 inches in two days. We'd been living over 35 years in SoCal and almost never got snow in the valley. I hadn't owned a snow shovel in 45 years.
I went to buy one and even the big box stores sold out in a few hours. I ended up driving to a True Value store way over the other side if Prescott, about thirty miles. A very nice lady said they had seven dozen coming the next afternoon and she'd hold one for me. She called when they came in and I got it and brought it home. That was twelve years ago and I've used it once since then....but I got one when I need it. It will likely achieve antique status and be worth something....some day....but i'll be long gone by then.

My hearing aids are from a "off the grid" audiologist. I got a Medtronic Micra implanted pacemaker almost ten years ago for an "off grid" surgeon. Both were recommended and paid for by the VA. Also got lens implants when radial karototamy (never could spell that one) was still "the thing" and had my "new" lenses laser cleaned years later, the same way.
I have spent way too much time in the ER, and lived maybe four months total in the hospital in the last ten years for double pneumonia, broken back and ribs, mysterious infections, a bout with seizures and hallucinations (they cured that but still have no idea of what caused it), blood poisoning, food poisoning, allergies, bladder, urinary, and prostate issues, various head, leg, and back injuries, cuts (I tried to amputate my left hand with a chainsaw)and punctures, dehydration, and a whole battery of of other things, smashed parts and pieces, irregular heart beat, perforated septum. I have a CPAP gadget that I can't use until I get a some dental work done right where the CPAP face gizmo puts on the pressure. I'll be back when the time comes for that to go back into service.
I am totally convinced that I would have been dead a number of times if not for the doctors and nurses and technicians at the VA and those recommended by the VA "off the grid".
Some of that would have killed me just because I couldn't possibly afford it.
Sometimes it simply doesn't pay to do something you shouldn't even consider...and I am now forbidden from even looking at a ladder or step stool or lift anything heavier than a cup of coffee.
Thank God for all his angels working for the VA.

I have a Uberti 24" octagonal in .44-40 that my wife gave me in 1982. (It cost her $139.00 and I still have the receipt). I shot it for years and decided to get a carbine. Found one Uberti '73 carbine and an EMF Hartford .92 rifle, both in .45 Colt. I still have the 92 simply because I can't find one in .44-40 with a blue receiver instead of CCH. It's not bad with smokeless and I do shoot it once in awhile...and the '73 is faster.
The EMF '73 left after maybe six months because it just wasn't worth all the cleaning and fussing it took to keep it running right with GOEX black powder...and I needed a .45 carbine like a pig needs a side saddle.
Your mileage may vary.

And not a computer involved.

I have so many "projects" going on, and so many "just for fun" events, that I have no idea where I ever found the time for a job before I retired.

One of my greatest memories was meeting Roy and Dale at their museum in Victorville when we lived in California. They were both the most friendly, cordial people you could ever hope to meet.
We used to shoot at the Double R Bar ranch with the Regulators....a wonderful shooting venue.

Oh, Hell! Be realistic. I still want to punch somebody's lights out once in awhile, usually when they are driving stupidly (if you can call what they are doing "driving"), or in a store or other public place without any idea that other people are there, too.
