I'm very proud to announce that St. Louis is throwing a parade for our Iraqi War Veterans!

According to the article in the St. Louis Post Dispatch website, "St. Louis will host a parade for Iraq war veterans Saturday, making it the first major city to officially welcome the troops home, according to organizers."

"The parade organizers received $10,000 from Anheuser-Busch and $7,500 from Mayflower to help defray expenses. They still are seeking donations and volunteers. Mayor Francis Slay offered to cover the parade permit fees, and the city's Office of Special Events has helped with logistics, according to a city spokeswoman."

"The parade will step off at noon Saturday from Kiener Plaza and travel west on Market Street to Union Station. Inside Union Station, organizers plan to offer a "resource village" from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. where veterans can connect with service providers such as the Red Cross or Department of Veterans Affairs. Entertainment is planned from 3 to 8:30 p.m."

I know that Litchfield is shooting that day, and Cisne is meeting that day - if you don't plan to be at either of those and you'll be in the area, please join us to celebrate our Veterans!
