Hello, I signed up today to join SASS, filled everything out on the online form including payment but when I hit submit the screen went blank and I’ve had no correspondence that I’m in. I can see where the charge hit my debit card but nothing else. What should I expect? An e mail confirmation?

All, I am considering trading my Ruger 77/357 for a SASS gun, but new SASS gun will need to pull double duty as my brush busting gun. I have a pet load I'm working on using the Lee 200 grain bullet in a .357 magnum case. crimped at the crimp groove it has the same OAL as a 360 Dan Wesson without requiring any modification to the chamber. this really ups the velocity for my bullet out of a rifle barrel. The 360 Dan Wesson has an OAL .01 shorter than a 454 Casull so the Rossi 92 action should be able to handle this OAL. My question is can it do it without modification to the carrier etc? Does anyone have a R92 357 that they could see if a 1.76 OAL cartridge will cycle on? I can send a dummy to someone if they want to try it for me. I'd rather not modify anything in the gun as I would still like to be able to run 38's for CAS. Please advise.

I shot my first full match yesterday and had a blast! A fellow cowboy who has taken to mentoring me let me use his guns and ammo. ANd some really nice guns they are! All slicked up are race ready! The very first stage I shot was clean, as was the last. My goal was to have at least 2 clean stages (because once is just a fluke), have no procedurals, and no minor safeties. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! And the best part was, I HAD A BLAST DOING IT!!! Now, all I need are: some guns leather gun cart proper costume Ok well I am on my way to getting started anyway... The video below was the last stage of the day and was my fastest time. 39 seconds if I remember correctly. Not fast but I was clean! The speed should come, I hope. 20180804_120737.mp4

I'd like some advice. I am interested in buying a lever action rifle and single action revolver (ideally in the same caliber, but not required). I'm a Marine and have a lot of experience with semi-automatics, but little experience with revolvers or lever action rifles. I primarily want them for novelty and fun shooting, which makes me think I should get a pistol caliber such as 357 or 45 LC 1873 or 1892 Winchester. I have no experience with these types of guns, so I don't know what else they are well suited for besides Cowboy Action Shooting, which I'd enjoy getting into someday. So essentially I'm wondering (to figure out which brand/caliber would be best): 1. Which is better between the 1873 and 1892? I've heard that the 1873 has a smoother action, and the 1892 has a stronger action (Although I admit I don't really understand what that means). 2. If I want to use the rifle for hunting, would the 30-30 caliber 1894 be better? 3. For the 1892, is the Chiappa Alaskan Takedown better or worse than the Winchester? 4. Rifle vs carbine vs musket argument? (Picture of musket attached) 5. For the pistol, which is better between Ruger Vaquero and Uberti? Or is there a better one than those? 6. Do Cowboy Action Shooters shoot a lower caliber so they can shoot faster and more accurately? (Such as using a 357 pistol with 38 special rounds in it). Or do they typically go 45 LC or 44-40 for authenticity?

Why doesn't SASS allow Wild Bunchers to compete in SASS matches as just another category or two? It's often difficult to find a WB match, but SASS matches on the other hand seem quite common around here. Are there a technical reasons? Would a .45ACP round damage metal targets at the short distances used in SASS? If it is, could it be handled by setting a maximum power factor for the .45ACP round? Is there concern about too much brass being flung by the M1911's? Lever/pumps rifles also fling brass although perhaps not a far or as much. I sometimes compete in a totally different sort of handgun shooting -- Steel Challenge, and it welcomes just about eveyone (not single shot muzzleloaders) and tries to adopt the rules of the major governing body for a specific type of handgun. For example if someone shot a SC match with single action revovers, SASS rules would be applied to them. Anyways, thanks for any input. -

Howdy Everyone, I have been shooting skeet for the past nine years and have recently made the switch to SASS and the world of cowboy action shooting. I like to reload so I can save money to shoot more and that naturally carried over. I got my pistols and rifle in .38 special. So my first question is what type of reloader is best for CAS? Dillon seems to be popular on the forum, but someone at my local club had all of the primers go off in his face off of a Dillon. I do not know if this was a fluke or a common occurrence, but I do not want primers going off in my face. My second question is what is an affordable brand of ammo I can buy that can be reloaded numerous times? I know for skeet the AA's by winchester were the best to reload with and I did not know if there was a similar type brass for the .38's. My third and final question is what type of powder and what grain bullet work best for the .38's for competition? I know everyone has their own preferences, but I was thinking a 125 grain bullet with a light powder charge. I know I have to meet the force factor lined out in the SASS handbook, but if anyone has a magic light load recipe please share. Thank you in advance for any and all advice. Sincerely, Skeet Horton

Sorry about the sound quality but it was in a big square, echo filled room. Written, choreographed, recorded and mixed by Rusty Dove - the 2013 ladies Kansas State Champion! One area the videographer missed was the villain stealing the wealthy man's wallet and putting it in the hero's pocket - oops!
