19 years ago on this weekend EOT 2005 was held at Founders Ranch. It snowed about 1/4" and the Californian's thought it was coming a blizzard.

God has blessed me immeasurably this year. First and foremost I have to thank him for all that he has allowed me to do. Next I have to thank my wife Lannie for putting up with my hobby / sport / game. Thanks to Reno Mustang for building my rifle after I broke 2 at Land Run last year. It is absolutely the best rifle I’ve ever had. Thanks to Shotgun Boogie for short stroking my pistols, Fast Eddie for going through my SKB’s and Cumberland Drifter and Captain Grouch for building my holster rig. I have to thank all my friends who’ve helped me get started and grow in this sport, we’ve travelled a lot of miles together! This year I won Elder Statesmen Duelist at the Alabama State, Silver Senior Duelist (they didn’t offer Elder Statesmen) at the Georgia State, Elder Statesmen Duelist at the Tennessee State, Duelist in the Magnificent 7, Elder Statesmen Duelist at the Southeast Regional, Elder Statesmen Duelist at the National Championship, Land Run and Elder Statesmen Duelist at EOT, the World Championship. I won all of these shooting Championship Bullets By Scarlett. I won the gun in the picture as a Shooters Drawing at Land Run. This has been an amazing and once in a lifetime year for me. The Doily Gang will be hosting a Ladies Only Clinic for all ages at the SASS World Championships (EOT) in Phoenix, AZ. WHEN : Tuesday, Feb 27, 2024 (2:30 PM - 5 PM at Bays 1-4) This is not a basic gun handling clinic, but a Cowboy Action Shooting TRANSITIONS clinic taught by Champion shooters! we made it down to eot, 30 hrs one way in the truck was not something that I enjoyed. However I'm very proud of the family. They all managed to do pretty good. Mindy took 3rd in lady b western Anastasia took 3rd as buckerette Lincon 4th as buckaroo I took up the rear with 5th in gunfighter. A little bummed at a disappointing showing by myself. It took my little angel to kick my butt back into reality. She said I stunk because I didn't practice... My fault . I didn't take the time to pick up a cowboy gun in 6 months... A few months before that I wasn't sure I would ever be able to shoot a gun again with my left hand due to a cut tendon in my thumb and a botched surgery. Just poor excuses. Sometimes that little girl is too smart for her own good. Anyway she made me promise to go back next year and do better, it didn't matter what place I get, but just not leave anything on the table, be prepared and give it my all. she even said she would practice with me, and help ice my thumb when it hurt too bad. Days like this make me feel like I'm not such a screw up as a dad.

Blackout at Bloody Basin and Road Runner Dust-up (Feb 10-12, 2023) This is a great opportunity to warm-up for the 2023 End of Trail (EOT) match, as the Arizona Cowboy Shooting Association (ACSA) matches are held at the same location as EOT (Ben Avery Shooting Facility). Blackout at Bloody Basin is the Arizona SASS State Black Powder match. The Road Runner Dust-up match is for the smokeless shooters. This is a combined 12-stage action-packed match with 6 stages on each day (Feb 11th and 12th). Side matches are on Feb. 10th. 136 max shooters, so be sure to sign up! Our goal is to provide an EOT-like experience for every shooter! STAGING: The permanent bays (Saloon, Fort, Coosie’s) and open bays will be used, much like the set up for EOT. Use of vertical staging, target placement, falling targets for pistol and/or rifle, and shooting sequences will be similar as well. INCLUDED in FEE: Main Match, Side Matches, and Sunday Lunch. Our first EOT is in the books and I could not have asked for a better experience for my first. CC Top and the Paradise Pass Regulators should hold their heads high with pride at the job they did to put on this match. All of the hard work was worth it in my opinion. Deuce Stevens and Cowboy Carty wrote a match that was worthy of a World Championship. CC Top and the PPR crew got the range into top shape. And Misty Moonshine and Ruby Ruthless did an excellent job with the administration of the match. From our first arrival on Monday morning until we left after the awards on Saturday, we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. I could tell there was no detail that was overlooked. The cowboy vendors were great, the food venders where all polite and the food was really good & varied, the stages were a lot of fun and the match was very cohesive, the range was beautiful, the brass rats were efficient and never slowed the posse down, the water stations were plentiful and they had someone walking around offering bottles (even during the shootoff), the banquet was so much fun, the shootoff was efficiently run and had a lot of action, and the match as a whole was what I expected for the World Championships. I was left in want of nothing this past week and created memories I will cherish for many years to come. I was able to meet a lot of online friends in person finally. And we got to see the best shooters in the world do their thing. I haven’t had such a fun filled week in a decade or more. What more could you ask for? My boys are wanting to start trying out the pistol, rifle, and shotgun speed events at these major matches. We haven't watched them before and don't really know what to expect or prep for. Do you just get one try? Do they usually have the same starting position? Do they usually have a similar number of targets? I assume the patterns won't be known beforehand but has anyone kept track of what they have done in the past? CG

Leaving MN for Founders Ranch, tomorrow in the am. Last visit to EOT was 1995 in CA. Been a long time between visits.

Ophelia & I are driving to EOT. Looks like we can go thru Ark & Oklahoma, or we can go thru Texas. I think we want to take the Texas route. Any recommendations for "must see" along the way? You know, like excellent Western Wear stores, or cool Western gun stores, or whatever. We flew last year, so this should be quite an adventure!

So End of Trail (EOT) is being held June 15-25, 2017 at Founders Ranch, New Mexico. Curiosity got the best of me, in wanting to know where do the majority of shooters come from, and what is there proximity to the actual site. So I put together the MAP below which indicates how many shooters (as of April 19th) have submitted applications. I have two Rugged Gear Limited Edition Gun carts, mine & my wife's. We only took one to EOT since our buds were gracious enough to take our stuff on their trailer, & we didn't want to take too much. My cart decided during the warm-up on Tuesday that was a good time for one of the spot welds to break on my front wheel. I tried to nurse it along, & it got worse & worse to the point where the wheel was dragging on the bottom of the cart, & I almost couldn't turn it anymore. It's been a few years since I bought it, & I forgot there's a sub-assembly for the front wheel that can be removed. It appeared that the frame was all one welded piece. Saturday, we loaded up the cart, & it I was pretty sure the wheel would break off. I went to Brisco Kid's tent & spoke with his wife. I said, "I'll buy a $490 new cart if you'll ship my old one back to me, since there's no more room on the trailer". She said to let Joe have a look at it, & she went to get him. Joe looked it over, took the sub-assembly off, & rummaged thru one of his boxes. He said he had one of those left. He removed the wheel from the assembly, put it on the new one, & re-installed it on my cart. You can imagine how happy I was. I said, "what do I owe you?". Joe said, "Nothing, they had a bad batch of those". I told him I didn't buy the cart from him & tried my best to get him to take some money. He absolutely would not take any money. I told everyone I saw, & more than one person had similar stories of Joe Brisco. I'm going to be looking to the Brisco Kid for all that I use first before I look anywhere else. If this isn't the cowboy spirit, I don't know what is!!

My good friend Blackhawk Henry won his second B-Western World Championship at EOT last week. No one works harder on his craft than Blackhawk. And he is quick to share with and help other shooters raise the level of their game. Congratulations, friend. May you have many more victories.

I have been searching on line but have not had any success in trying to find out what an estimated round count would be for this year's EOT. I am attending for the first time and surely do not want to arrive with too little ammo. I am specifically looking at Wild Bunch warm up and match as well as CAS warm up and matches. Just need approximate round count and I can crank in my windage for back up reserve. Thank you. SaukValley Sam

POKER TOURNAMENT AT EOT A one night Texas Hold'Em tournament will be held at End Of Trail this year. First Prize will be a Cimarron 1911 provided by Cimarron Firearms (Thanks Joe Neumann). Second prize will be a custom knife by Redwing Trading Co. (Thanks Tom and Karen). Details will be in the shooters book and on the schedule.

At EOT it takes 7 entrants to make an aged based category, fewer for ladies categories. Frontiersman has been growing lately. With luck we could have Senior Frontiersman, or even Silver Senior Frontiersman or Elder Statesman Frontiersman, maybe all three if we try. So when you enter, enter what you’re old enough to qualify for: Elder Statesman Frontiersman, Silver Senior Frontiersman, or Senior Frontiersman. Odds are they would be combined to Senior Frontiersman, but who knows? That would still be an extra category—devoid of kids, meaning anyone 59 and younger. The worst that could happen is we wind up with just Frontiersman. If we do nothing, that’s what will happen. So we have nothing to lose. It costs nothing to try. Just call SASS. I entered Silver Senior Frontiersman. Slipnoose handled it for me, so I’d suggest asking for her.
