A man failed to win the popular vote and in fact only won 39% of it but won 59% of the electoral vote due to the concentration of population in the states he won..in fact he received a smaller percentage of the popular vote than nearly all the losers.
A large segment of the citizens felt he was not the legitimate president because he only carried 18 states all the others voted against the candidate
He was accused of implementing unconstitutional measures
He was one of the most unpopular presidents of his day...upon taking office he had what would equate to a modern approval rating of less than 25%
Major news media hounded him, satirized him, made fun of his looks, called him incompetent, a gorilla etc a few examples - The NEW YORK TRIBUNE joked that he "may live a hundred years without having so good a chance to die", The CHICAGO TIMES, branded one of his policies "..a monstrous usurpation, a criminal wrong, and an act of national suicide.....the time is brief when we shall have a DICTATOR proclaimed", The NEW YORK HERALD stated "The politicians have again proclaimed this PRESIDENTIAL-PIGMY as their nominee...." , the NEW YORK WORLD said "...the OBSCENE APE is about to be deposed.."
Accusations of election fraud and shock from the losing party a NY times head line "THE DAY AFTER THE ELECTION THE REPUBLICANS IN THEIR TRIUMPH.....THE LAMENTATIONS OF THE DEFEATED" another headline read ...Report of alderman from the City of New York "it is currently reported and believed that there exists in this city an organized body...who intend, on the day of election, to obstruct the polls...and challenge very voter they can in order to keep back the electors and delay voting on that day...."
Many citizens felt he was not qualified for the office
Many of his own cabinet felt they were better qualified to hold office
One well known "progressive" activist called him a "First rate, second rate man"
So many believed that he did not win the election and was not "legitimate" that some states moved to secede...
He put forward the principle that IN A REPUBLIC the citizens can not decide they want to leave because they don't like the results of an election...In a Republic it is the citizens duty that if they do not agree with the results of an election to convince their peers that they made a mistake and vote against the office holder in the next election...thus is the way of Republics.
Military leaders ridiculed him and called him a fool or the "original gorilla" (a direct quote)
Later when his party came to him and told him he was LOSER and that to avoid losing the next election he should suspend the election, a power granted to him by congress, he refused stating that the government of ANY Republic that was afraid of the voice of the people should not govern
The states that disagreed seceded from the Union an action severely criticized by "progressives"
The man was Abraham Lincoln
The states that seceded became the Confederate States an action that has been criticized by progressives up until the latest election
These things are not made up by me they are historic fact...anyone can look them up...
A history lesson for those that don't agree with the results of the election

Try IMR 4227 works for both subsonic and supersonic or H110 works best for supersonic

IMR3031, 4198, 4195 and Trailboss depending on what is available. I like Trailboss but to me it can be a bit expensive when you consider that they don't give you a full pound for the price and 45-70 eats a lot of powder. The IMR powders do seem to pack more recoil even in my Sharps heavy buffalo rifle which weights in at over 9 lbs.
I shoot the Sharps, a Henry all Weather and an 1886.

Any of you pards had any experience good or bad with one of these.. There is one for sale here at a local gun shop and I think they may be willing to negotiate on the price since they have had it for a while. I have seen some comments that the pump actions seem to have feeding and perhaps quality issues?? This one is in .45 Colt and looks to be in good condition. Never had or tried one so would be interested in hearing from other pards that have.

Decided to hang up the spikes at 64, and the main reason was my grandson.. decided I wanted to spend as much time enjoying the little guy as I could before he got old enough that he wouldn't want to hang around with me anymore..now he's my little buddy and I spend as much time with him as I can..
It required major downsizing ( as those of you that watch the sale classified forum know) but I do work 6 months per year as a Ranger/Historian for the NPS and fortunately I have been working as a seasonal for NPS long enough that I am able to work near his home..so even when I do work I can see him a couple of days per week.
No regrets, they grow up so fast that in a twinkle of an eye your chance to enjoy time with them is gone....am glad I made the decision..

I have one with the threaded barrel and it is a great 22 pistol..
I have put through about 1,000 rounds of various mostly cheap 22 ammo without any failures, balances really well and very accurate, all the major components are well made out of metal not plastic, nice fit and finish on mine. Very easy to take down and clean and there are some nice aftermarket interchangeable barrels etc for it so you can go to a longer fully fluted barrel, a carbon fiber barrel or whatever suits you all with the turn of the takedown screw.
Some folks have said the take down screw comes loose but haven't had that as of yet, the two "fixes" are to add a little of the non-permanent lock tite to it when you put it back or to fit it with a small rubber o-ring which keeps it from loosening. If I need to I will probably go with the O-ring idea.
I have had a few Ruger 22 autos and I am liking the Victory better..but everyone has their own preferences...
Based on my experience so far I would definitely say it is worth considering if the look and fit are to your taste.

Still down-sizing so more stuff out of storage
I have gotten lazy in my old age and don't shoot Black Powder any more--
Older T/C Hawken .50 caliber percussion dual set triggers, 28"" blued octagon barrel with 1 in 48 twist rate, brass patch box, standard factory sights, I have a few spare brass screws etc for it.. I never liked the glossy finish so I had stripped it and put on a hand rubbed boiled linseed oil finish which to my eye looks better on a copy of an old percussion rifle.. It does have a fiberglass ramrod... it stood up to use better than the wooden one did but you could replace it with a wood one if you are particular, also has a spare jag in the patch box
Good and clean a few handling and storage marks from over the years but not much..Good shooter with patched ball or maxis, I'll throw in some good ticking for patches and 25 lead round ball and 25 lead maxis......$275 shipped direct to you unless your state requires shipping to ffl. I know NJ, and Ill require ffl there may be others so check your local laws.
