I tried it once, but I almost dropped the other gun, so I gave up.

Verify that the FFL will accept a shipment from a non-FFL. I've read many times that some FFL's won't accept them even though there's no federal law requiring it. Seems stupid to me, but hey, the last time I checked, I found that I don't know everything.

You lucky dog!

CAS aside, if you just want to shoot the stuff, as recently as abut 5 years ago, I was shooting Greek M2 Ball ammo in my Garand from 1960. Nary a problem.

Merry Christmas to all!

My only complaint about the skb is that since it does weigh less you feel more of the recoil
if yer shootin' real black powder like you awtta be, then you won't feel much recoil!

2016 prices at the Colt Custom Shop put them at $1499 to $1699:

Ripsaw,
You are welcome to try mine the next time I see you. It's lighter than my Stoeger, it swings better, it's got a mechanical reset trigger that's not dependent on recoil to operate, and Johnny made it slick as glass. My SKB won't make me a better shooter, but it's a joy to shoot no matter how badly I may handle it.

Thanks Pard .
I did watch a Video on Youtube by Duelist1954 .
Spells it all out :-)
Have a Marry Christmas.
Excellent - you'll be glad you did.
Merry Christmas!

I just ordered me four new cylinders.
This way I will only need to load two times at a shoot.
You all have a Blessed Holiday Season :-)
You can open up the access to the nipples so that you can easily use a capper - do a search because I recall there being photos posted. If you can't find them, let me know and I'll snap a photo of mine.

My bride Sunny Spurs (a little drink of water) shot a Stoeger for a hand full of years because that's what she was given to shoot. Didn't know what she was missing.....until she shot a slicked up SKB.
Shortly after that she had an SKB. She said to sell the Stoeger cause she would never shoot it again.
Ditto. I got my SKB from Johnny Meadows and I can't imagine shooting a Stoeger again. Ya really do get what you pay for most of the time and this was no exception.

Just as an added...
I will be reloading 12ga specifically for her. I will be having her try some 3/4 oz and 7/8 oz loads. There is a slight chance I will be able to get her out to the Skeet and or Trap range with me. For this reason I am leaning towards "recommending" the Stoeger Coach/Uplander combo. But I really like the Cimarron (for myself).
Thanks for all the great advice everyone Please keep it coming.
If she has trouble with recoil, consider real black powder loads. I make 7/8 ounce BP loads that are milder than any smokeless load I've tried and they reliably knock down the poppers. I can send you the recipe if you're interested.

Ace is spot on. I started with a Rossi Overlander, then I got a Stoeger. It was OK, but then I bought an SKB from Johnny Meadows and I absolutely love it.

-4º this morning with an inch of snow over two days of continues freezing rain. I figured it was a good day to do some reloading.
I had purposely neglected reloading after the last few matches knowing I had all winter to catch up. I only loaded 200 rounds of 357 Magnum for Mary's Marlins. I didn't figure I needed to hurry as winter hasn't officially started.
Ya'lll can KEEP that kind of weather!

I use the ones made by HCMAGS. (HC3R). They are a heckofa lot easier to load than the Rugers, and they hold 25 in the mag with a stripper clip of 25 in the side slot. Very fast to slip them in. www.hcmags.com

I can see myself burning a LOT of ammo with those things!

Universal is my 9mm goto powder. It's not good for powder puff loads, but for medium and full power loads, I've found it to work well in all pistol calibers.
-
They must not count those as firearms then, because I ordered just before posting this and got free shipping.
Cool. BTW, the 1851 Navy is on sale also!

BTW, if you buy the 5Fa in bulk, it is the same granule size as 3Fg, but it's only $325 for a 25lbs sack. The only difference between them is that Fg (a.k.a. "sporting grade") powder is coated with graphite to make it less hygroscopic while Fa (a.k.a. "fireworks" or "blasting") powder is 100% pure black powder (potassium nitrate, sulfur and charcoal) with no additives and it doesn't get any more period correct than that. I've been using it for years and love saving money.

Back Creek @ http://blackpowderva.com/ Buying in bulk is the only way to go.

The question was about real black and not APP and if it ain't real, well, it ain't real. Seriously, I would ask what's the advantage if you have to add lube anyway? Does it do better in a longer bore than say a Big Lube? I've used other lead bullets with great success in my Smoke Wagons, but had to go back to the Big Lubes to keep from leading my 24" rifle barrel.
So, here is what Santa brought me.

Now THAT is a class act! Remember, Steve McQueen owned over 100 motorcycles, but his favorite was his Bonneville 650!
