Fairfax, Va. - Chris W. Cox, executive director of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, issued the following statement today in support of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association’s response to New York City’s feeble attempt to stop the lawsuit over the city’s unconstitutional firearm travel ban:

“New York City’s problem is they think they’re regulating a privilege instead of a fundamental, constitutional right. The city’s attempt to slightly modify its unconstitutional law is a nakedly transparent delay tactic.  We are confident that the U.S. Supreme Court will reject New York’s shenanigans and allow the case to proceed.”

Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America's oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation's leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services.
