Okay, the movie was terrible: cinematography style, dialogue, and mediocre editing. However: Ryan was spot-on and his performance was incredible. Holden was okay, but for the marvelous Mister Holden that means it was excellent compared to any other actor; I still think his best was Stalag 17. Ernest, what can I say...except it was a dark funhouse mirror performance of Marty. I'll watch all 144min again at some point, but not for a couple if years I'm sure.
