Cleaning Kits Sm Pistol Primers Fed 100s Sm Pistol Primers Genix (Great bargain for practice ammo) Lg Pistol Primers Remington 209 Shotgun Cheddite We will also have a few select Black Powder revolvers, some antique rifles, some C&R firearms. And our Fan Favorite Gatling Guns.

Would these rounds be outside safety parameters for the game?

I'm looking at all the choices for a SA 1911 and am not sure which are OK for the Wild Bunch. These are the Mil-spec ones I can choose from: PBD9108L PB9108L PB9108LCA PB9151L PB9151LCA Any recommendations?

Howdy I know there's the Wild Bunch Forum but haven't an account there, so I am asking here. Also, searching the forums didn't help. Not started WB yet and looking for a holster. I've seen a lot with backwards / "FBI" canting angle. As far as I read in the handbooks, the 170° rule applies also in WB. So, muzzle must point downrange within the 170° cone with the exeption of drawing and holstering (holsters of any style) where you must stay within 180°, holstering not relevant for WB, of course. For CAS I have a cross draw holster and I rotate my body for muzzle control. Well, what do you do with a backwards cant holster? I suppose nobody does some kind of limbo dance while drawing... Do you manage that the muzzle is pointing already (at least) straight downwards when it clears the leather? Or is the rule not applicable until you rack the slide? Please educate me! Equanimous Phil

Wondering what is appropriate in early turn of the twentieth century military kit? Particularly regarding WWI military web gear, holsters and magazine pouches. Is there a hard and fast cut off year or if the kit stays in the Spirit of that type of gear type/look? For instance, 1911 pistol ammo pouches. There are subtle visual differences between manufactured types produced during WW1 up through WW2 pouches. What is appropriate? How much leeway do you have? The rules mention to 1916. How hard is that date, if I find kit items from say 1917-1918 but are similar to earlier types is that a problem. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm just starting out and want to avoid any costuming faux pas. I can't wait to break out my 1911-C (civilian production) original Colt that I inherited from my FIL. So I'm trying to put together a kit around that particular military period. Thanks Doc Ironbeard

And so is BAMM (Bolt Action Military Match). These cowboys and cowgirls are serious about Wild Bunch. If you are within reach of Oklahoma City, I recommend that you include this match on your shooting calendar. Slap that checkbook!

During a recent monthly shoot, where we can shoot cowboy or WB, I had issues with cycling the ammo for my 1911. I ejected a live round, and after emptying the magazine, I pulled a round from my pocket to reload. I was told I could not load it into the pistol, and was told to take the miss. I shoot for accuracy, not for time, and this was disappointing. After the shoot, I asked the TO, and he admitted that he was not sure about the call, so I asked the club President. He wasn't sure either, hence my question here. Since we use several mags per stage: 1. After the current mag is emptied and dropped, can I insert a round into the chamber of the locked-open 1911, shoot the round, and then reinsert a full mag and resume shooting? Or, 2. After the current mag is emptied and dropped, can I lay down the locked-open pistol, reload the empty mag with 1 round from my pocket, reinsert the mag into the locked-open 1911, and resume shooting? 3. If I can't reload a round from the body, what is the difference between inserting a full mag (5 or 7) and inserting a mag that was loaded from the body on the clock? I was able to get a lot of opinions in response to my questions, but what are the rules? I also tried to Search in the WBAS Forum, but it kept asking me who is SASS #4, and even though I've been shooting since 1996, I have no idea.

It’s official! Beginning January 1, 2018 all sanctioned Wild Bunch Matches will load 7 (yes SEVEN) rounds of 45 acp in the 1911 magazines. Happy Jack said it here: http://www.sassnet.com/wildbunch/forum/index.php?topic=2383.0 In the replies to my post on the SASS Wire of June 14, 2017 regarding changes to Wild Bunch rules and conventions to attract more shooters: one of the frequent objections to participation was a 5-round magazine load. The Rules Committee has overcome that objection! Might we expect to see a stampede to Wild Bunch matches by formerly frustrated advocates for loading 7 rounds in the magazine? Who is ready to play WBAS with 7 rounds in the 1911 magazines? Toss your magazine into the ring! I suggest that you reply to this thread to let the Rules Committee know whether the rule change has been effective in responding to your concerns and recommendations. That could help them in future considerations of changes to the rules based on recommendations from the shooters. Lone Dog, already a player, will no doubt lead the celebration about this change in the rules as he has been one of the most vocal in support of it for some time. The spirit of JMB will be smiling upon us as we are taking full advantage of his design. Well, more advantage anyway. For a while I expect to see a few tactical reloads after 5 rounds have been fired while we (and me in particular) become accustomed to counting to 7 instead of 5. Maybe there should be a moratorium on the application of that penalty for a month or three? This is exciting – new combinations of target sequences to enjoy! Those stages where we shot six or seven 5-round magazines for 30 or 35 shots can now become 35 or 42 shots. It’s time to buy more powder and more bullets! This is nirvana for the slide-action shooters. We are free from one of the bonds that enslaved us! It is the ultimate happiness that comes when we are liberated from finding pain in impermanent objects. The Rules Committee did listen! Posse up! Power to the 1911!

Cowboys and cowgirls, several of us Wild Bunch Action Shooters are having a discussion on the Wild Bunch forum about how to increase the value of Wild Bunch Action Shooting to attract more CAS shooters into the WBAS game. There are no better sources of information than ‘straight from the horses mouth’ so I’m asking the ‘horses’. Please tell us slide action shooters what Wild Bunch requirements, rules, and matches would look like to attract you rotating action shooters to this game! Where is WBAS lacking in value to you? What would add value so as to allow you to 'buy' into the WBAS game? All Comments and Criticisms are welcome and if you want to Flame get after it – I have asbestos britches!

Are there any clubs out there that combine WB and CAS during the same match? If so, what adjustments do you make to run the match run smoothly? Do you add additional targets for the WB folks on each stage?

I am new to CAS but am interested in wild bunch. I have a Dan Wesson Heritage stainless and wanted to know if I could make it legal in the traditional category. I know I would have to change the hammer and get magazines with no base plate. Any other modifications needed? Any recommendations as to where to get a hammer to match? Thank you

It is time for our quarterly Wild Bunch shoot in Leonard Texas,at the top gun shooting club Home of the Texas Ten Horns. The Tejas Caballeros had so much fun with The Whoopin’ in October that we are going to give other cowboys and cowgirls an opportunity to enjoy the range and the Flat Creek Ranch facilities. We will hold our regular monthly shoot on Saturday December 20, then on Sunday the 21st we will have a Wild Bunch match. As we discovered at Whoopin’, the ranch has a very nice and modern set of rooms in the Cypress Lodge with an inviting porch and lots of rocking chairs. Room rates are very reasonable. For those who live a ways out from the range, staying on the range Friday and Saturday night is very attractive. You will not be roughing it at all (except maybe having to make your own coffee). If you want to rent a room at the Cypress Lodge, then you can send a check for $90 for one night or $160 for 2 nights ($20 discount if stay 2 nights) to Child, Inc 818 E. 53rd St. Austin, TX 78751. Reference the Tejas Caballeros/Cypress lodging and the dates staying. The Cypress Lodge is on the ranch and about a mile from the range. You can get more info on Flat Creek Ranch lodging at http://www.txsranch.com/lodging.htm If you sign up for both matches on Saturday you get a $5 discount. (Regular rates are $20 for non-members and $15 per members per day). If you just have to shoot that 1911 on Saturday, we even allow the “Wild Agarita” category where you can shoot your 1911 instead of your cowboy pistols. If you are not equipped to shoot Wild Bunch and just want to shoot the cowboy guns again on Sunday, you can do that to. Should be a lot of fun at a great venue. So who’s coming?

After over a year of preparation I finally shot my first Wild Bunch match on October 25 with the Walnut Grove Rangers in Ellenboro, NC. Man was that fun! I've been collecting costume, guns, leather, and ammo for over a year; in fact I had two virgin guns with me that day. I purchased a Rock Island Armory M1911A1 for $342 after the Armscor $50 rebate so I could shoot traditional, and a Winchester 97 built in 1907 for $280 off of Gunbroker.com. I had to do some prep work to get both guns ready for competition, but both functioned flawlessly! It was actually cheaper to purchase the RIA M1911A1 than to purchase the parts to convert one of my modern 1911's to traditional G.I. pattern. And since I do my own leather work I made a garrison belt, M1912 pattern flap holster and M1919 magazine pouches all to military specification. I can't wait to do this again! Thanks again to the Walnut Grove Rangers for hosting a great match. Let's see if I can get photos to post. (edit) Ok. sorry they are full size, I'll get the hang of this eventually.)

Why doesn't SASS allow Wild Bunchers to compete in SASS matches as just another category or two? It's often difficult to find a WB match, but SASS matches on the other hand seem quite common around here. Are there a technical reasons? Would a .45ACP round damage metal targets at the short distances used in SASS? If it is, could it be handled by setting a maximum power factor for the .45ACP round? Is there concern about too much brass being flung by the M1911's? Lever/pumps rifles also fling brass although perhaps not a far or as much. I sometimes compete in a totally different sort of handgun shooting -- Steel Challenge, and it welcomes just about eveyone (not single shot muzzleloaders) and tries to adopt the rules of the major governing body for a specific type of handgun. For example if someone shot a SC match with single action revovers, SASS rules would be applied to them. Anyways, thanks for any input.
