  1. How Do You Count Guns When No One Is Keeping Track?
  2. The link provides more insight into the horrendous Illinois Gun Ban. What makes this ban so bad, is that it also bans gun parts, "That could readily be attached to an assault rifle." So if you bought a $10 no-bitch box at an estate sale, and it had an AR pistol grip in it, you would be in violation of the law. It gets stupider. What does "readily attached" mean? Does it take under an hour? One screwdriver? It seems apparent that this particular federal judge, or his clerks, may just be smarter than the average bear when it come to firearm nomenclature. Because what he has just ordered the state to do, is a gargantuan task. https://www.thecentersquare.com/illinois/federal-judge-in-illinois-gun-ban-cases-orders-state-to-show-each-and-every-item/article_936ac308-abeb-11ed-83a0-e3b567a83f36.html?a?

  3. After many years of avoiding math as a student, and later as a substitute teacher, my luck ran out today. Math teacher/baseball coach had to take the team to the State playoffs. So I was "it." No problem. 5th grade math and science. Had a good outline to follow. But what was coming? Long division. Common Core Long Division. I had the teacher's book with all the answers. Good. Kids doing problems on the white dry erase board. Looked odd, but ok. But they were getting the right answers. Except one kid. It was an easy division problem. three digit number divided by two. Should be a three digit answer. Student kept getting the second digit wrong. Then I asked, "How did you calculate the 8 for the next number?" I was showed a series of mathematical gymnastics that made me think I had truly traveled into a parallel dimension of time and space. By now a group had formed around our table. I said, "Let me try it my way." So I did the problem in the way of public school mathematics in the 60's and 70's. Bingo! Right answer and in record time. The kids were amazed and kept asking how did I do that so fast. "Old school math," I replied. So why did we ditch old school math for this crap????
