SOLD For Sale: Spanish clone of Smith & Wesson Frontier Top Break Revolver made for the British during WWI chambered in .455 Webley This is a British Officer's Issue, Spanish Eibar Arsenal .455 Caliber 6 Shot Double Action Military Service Revolver with British proof marks. The serial number, 63, matches on frame and under the grips. Very good bore with well-defined rifling except for one area of roughness located two thirds of the way up the bore towards the muzzle. See last photo. Mechanically it works as designed. This is a Spanish Orbea pattern model 1915 revolver. In the beginning of World War 1 England had a shortage of side arms. The British military made contracts with any country that could supply them. Spain offered to supply 30,000 pistols in .455 caliber. There were three companies under the parent company of Orbea Hermanos y cia of Eibar Spain and all of them were copies of the Smith & Wesson Frontier double action (except for them being in.455 cal.) The revolvers carry the British Crown over V proofs on the barrel lug and the frame and every flute of the cylinder. Please review the numerous photos to fully evaluate this revolver’s condition.
