  1. Howdy all, I have a Rossi Puma .44 Magnum that my father bought for me at a gun shop in Tombstone, Arizona something over 25 years ago. I've never put a sling on this rifle, but I've always meant to, so I write for some advice from those more knowledgeable than I. This gun has never seen actual cowboy action duty, although one day it might. It has no swivels, and I'm hesitant to install any (for no particular reason). It does, however, have a loop on the receiver that I assume is intended for the installation of a retention strap that would be used in conjunction with a saddle scabbard, but I truly have no idea, since I'm 100% ignorant of all matters equine. So then, what would y'all recommend? I was considering the No Drill Sling from SimplyRugged.com, but I'm not sure how well it would hold onto the stock and whether or not the sling strap on the butt stock would bug me while shooting. I was also wondering about the Rawhide Sling from Trader Keith's. I'd just like a quality sling that will look good on the rifle and be functional for basic range or field duty. I'd be willing to install swivels, but I dunno if that would take away from the vintage look of the gun. All opinions welcome! Doc Blank
