A great firearm advocate
every Michigan gun owner should have this site in their favorites, and for you out of staters, you should too, great info and resources

I've NEVER heard the term used with anything to do with a Safety. USMC 1969 Boot Camp....Lock was to lock in a 20 round magazine, Load was to pull back the handle on the charging rod and let it fly home loading the weapon. This was with the M-14. A WWll M-1 Garand would be Lock in an 8 round enbloc clip, Load would be to let the Bolt go Home, loading the weapon. Safety can be either on or off to do this Lock and Load.
Jake
If I remember it right, with the M16, it was "Lock" the blot back and then "Load" a mag, then the command was "frie ar will" which meant we released the bolt and was ready to start firing(but it has been a few years

Saw an hour on an animal show a couple of years back that had nothing but a camera setting under a fig tree in Africa.
The figs had all fermented.
Everything from elephant to hyena were drunk out of their minds. The baboon troupe was worth the price of a good show.
Course then I realized that that was what I looked like 40 years ago.
I saw that one too Noz, was funny...here you go, short version

CC, you are going to love the 650 with a case feeder. I just set mine up last weekend and loaded til i ran out of bullets. I picked it up here in the classifieds for a very fair price.
Thanks SAH, I can't wait, I love the 550 SDB, but it is just can't load fast enough
......hope to get the 650 first part of next week and I am looking forward to it, if I have any questions I will sure come ask you, and thanks again -
After using a Lee Loadmaster for several years, I've decided to upgrade to a Dillon. After reading all I could find on the net, I think the Square Deal will fit my needs the best. I know it only loads pistol ammo and it has it's own dies but I like the fact that it won't take up much room on my already crowded bench and I like the auto-progressive feature that I'm used to with the Lee press. I don't think I need the output of the Dillon 550 or 650.
I would like to hear from those that use one as to the good and bad points.
Thanks,
Doc Fillem
I love mine, loaded 2400 rounds on it this past weekend ( half 45 colt and 45 cowboy special) now going to order a 650 with auto case feeder and auto powder checker, my spare time is getting less and less, but I want to shoot more, which means I need to reload more, and not having to manually load a case in the press each time before I pull that handle appeals to me
.......and 250 an hour including reloading the primer tubes and boxing up the loaded ammo as the tray fills up plus checking to make sure powder is in the case and the other things you have to always look out for while and before pulling the handle is about all I can do on the 500 square deal......so I am hoping the 650 at the very least doubles that production rate, and besides, the people at DIllion are a pleasure to deal with..... -
Carolina cowboy,
Yes this is much easier. I scored a shoot a couple weeks ago and by the time the last person is done the scores were as well now this one happened to be just 1 posse so did not have to sync the devices but it was fast and everyone was happy. As the score keeper and shooter it was awesome. I also post the scores and do the web site so not to have the go home and type in 4 or 5 posses was great. I can not wait to use it at our match next month.
So for our shoot we are using it. Everyone else can make their own choice but I think will be the way to go.
Painted Filly
Thanks Painted Filly
We are going to look into it, we have a couple members that have I pads now, and most shoots two posses are it, if we are lucky we might have three but it does seem like a good way to do things and having the scores quickly is always a big hit......so let me know how it goes at your shoot...sounds like another way to spend more time shooting and socilizing and less time doing data input..win win
-
Yes does both rank and time and also will run on ipod touches so easy enough to get.
Painted Filly
Thanks PF, right now the Lady that does it has to shoot, then walk by all the posses and get the score sheets for the stage they are shooting, go to the clubhouse(not far, but far enough to do 4 times, we shoot 5 stages at our monthlies, but we take last sheet to her) then she enters the scores AFTER EACH STAGE so we can have the totals as soon as the match is over and hand out awards(poker chips) as soon as possible so people can head home after shooting, this seems like a way to make her life a lot easier(and save her some walking as well)
-
Grizz,
You are correct only one input so less change of error. Is there still a chance? Yes off course there is always a chance when there are humans involved. But less of one for sure. For the time being we will be entering on paper and in the software for a double check.
Painted Filly
Hi Painted Filly
Is this good for both Total time and Rank scoring ?

My good pard Crazy Mingo will be going for surgery tommorow. He is having stints placed in his carotid arteries as he has some pretty severe blockages. Due to some pre exsisting heart conditions surgery is always a concern. If you know Mingo you know that he he a true love for the sport and the people in it. Please keep him in your prayers for a succesful surgery and speedy recovery.
Let him know thinking of him, and get well quick CM

The Double Barrel Gang and the Rockford Regulators are shooting their respective cowtowns up this weekend. The Double Barrel Gang will be shooting in Hastings on Saturday and on Sunday we will be blazing away at the Rockford Sportsmans Club.
I believe that Slippery Pete and hOOt have something cooked up for the top shooters of each day.
Hope to see you on the trail,
Ketchum Quick

Just wanted to say Congrats to Crazy Nate for winning the Michigan State Buckroo State Champiion.......one great young man, but even better was the fact he was on my posse, and even better was the fact he was shooting with his Grand Dad(Split Aces), and his Dad( Grateful Lead)...three generations of SASS shooters, add the fact that they are super people, darn good shooters(we were all trying to keep up with Crazy nate) and you get a chance to see what makes SASS so great.......my hat is off to Split Aces for bringing both his son and Grandson into the SASS family, it was both fun and emotional to witiness.....and the Old Man didn't cut the youngun's any slack either
...Nate, congrats, you are one super young man, Split Aces, Grateful lead, you are two lucky guys, as is the Kid
again, Congrats Crazy NateCarolina Cowboy, who was glad to have such a great posse

....a BIG THANK YOU to RJ and Deuce and everyone else that puts all the time and effort into putting on such a great shoot.....Congrats to all the winners......but to me, if you were there you were a winner, so congrats to everyone that was there and got to experience The Michigan Range War

BTT 2 more days and a wake up to the best shoot around

-

You are funny mister!
Lucky for us Kentucky Drifter is bringing a machine to drive posts this year. Thank the good lord for that. AND if something happens where he can't bring that to the shoot.... well let's just say I know there is no way this cowboy is going near the manual post driver this year. I still have nightmares over that thing!
See you there in a few days Buk!
KQ
I bet the ER people are going to miss you and Faygo KQ, from what I hear you guys made their day.......not ever day they get two guys from the same gun club with wounds, and they are from you guys being attacked by a post hole driver

-
This will never do
One of the best State shoots SASS has and it's on page two. With less then 2 weeks to go (that's 7 days and a wakeup for me)an it's on the second page.
Everyone must be to busy readin' and studyin' them stages that were just posted a couple days ago.

BTT for a Great bunch of Pards........
