Trailrider #896 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Thomas Edison believed that alternating current was a deadly safety hazard, and recommended DC. Problem was that it required relay stations be built closely for transmission, which AC does not. He and Nikoli Tesla were at odds over the question. Eventually, AC won on economics. However, I can remember that as a young boy, downtown Chicago was on DC! They finally switched over to AC. Quote
Cypress Sun Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Tesla got cheated by George Westinghouse and Thomas Edison. A genius before his time. By the way. getting zapped by either system really hurts, no matter what the hertz. 1 1 Quote
Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Interesting stuff, and overall a cool video. However, when A I creates pictures like this it makes my teeth feel fuzzy! 😬 Kinda like the old "Widget" drawing: 2 Quote

While the narration was informative the AI was so bad that it detracted from what they were talking about. 1 Quote

Wallaby Jack, SASS #44062 Posted Sunday at 11:49 PM Posted Sunday at 11:49 PM Just because you USAians are stuck with 60Hz, ..... it's not too late to go metric. ....... and 50Hz at 230 volts ain't as dangerous as Mr. Edison would have you believe. Quote
