Blackwater 53393 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 One for our side!! A couple more like this and followed up by similar final rulings and we can probably get this issue before SCOTUS for a final disposition! 1 Quote
John Kloehr Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Good news, even at the preliminary injunction stage. Hopefully this develops into a permanent injunction and mandate (in two years). In the short term, the state may appeal this PI to the 2nd. 1 1 Quote
Tall John Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Looks like another small win for the Good Guys! Connecticut’s new Glock ban was deemed unconstitutional this week by an Appeals Court While I don’t live in Connecticut any longer, I just renewed my membership in CCDL (Connecticut, Citizens, Defense, League) that is very active in fighting the Assault Weapons cases that the Supreme Court will hear in December. I’ve lived in 10 states in my life and CCDL is the most active in fighting for our 2A rights. Consider making a donation. this SCOTUS term will be pivotal in potentially reversing some key unconstitutional 2A legislation and they need our support! https://www.ccdl.us/join/ 4 1 Quote
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Fight it all the time and on all legal fronts. We got complacent in Canada and now shooting sports are in freefall. Firearm owners who did not have handguns, for example did not support handgun shooters, since they didn't own handguns. "They'll never bother me and my shotgun!" LOL NO! Your shotgun was just a little further down the grab list. Legal purchase and/or transfer of handguns is banned; certain long guns, rifles and shotguns are banned/prohibited, many because "They look scary!", have a pistol grip or just because. The heirs of deceased handgun owners will see the legally owned and federally registered firearms destroyed without compensation There is a court case on the docket, to try to fight the more recent long gun ban, but with a decade plus of a Liberal government in power, many of the justices, who will hear the case, were appointed by the current government. CCDL does not have a clear tie to any particular advocacy organization but has ties and cooperation to at least a few of them.. 2 Quote

John Kloehr Posted October 3 Posted October 3 5 minutes ago, Tall John said: CCDL IS AN ADVOCACY ORGANIZATION! Oh, it certainly is. My comment is that it is not tied to a larger one, like NYSRPA and CRPA are NRA affiliates. CCDL does not have such ties so is not supported by the larger organization in the same way as affiliates. Such organizations are helpful as they can bring challenges another organization can not bring as it already started a similar action in another circuit. An example is the NRA not being a driver of SilencerCo in the 5th because the NRA is already a lead plaintiff for a substantially identical case in the 8th. This also means the NRA can not bring the same case in the 2nd either, but CCDL can do so. 1 Quote
Tall John Posted October 3 Posted October 3 John, Thanks for clarification, hence another reason that CCDL needs direct support thru membership dues and direct donations! 1 Quote
