Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted October 1 Author Posted October 1 So two or three years ago I was in a supermarket in Fresno, trying to decide on a bottle of wine. Standing there, gazing at a baffling selection, I became aware of a young lady standing next to me - maybe early fifties; looked MUCH younger. Anyway, we struck up a conversation; wine, schools, sports, kids, family.... she was just a delightful person with a really engaging personality. Finally, something clicked, and I asked her out of the blue, "By chance are you an Olympian?" She grinned and said, "Why, yes I am! Atlanta '96 Gold Medalist ~ women's softball!" Shelly Stokes - catcher, Fresno State '87 - '90; Team USA '94 - '96 and '97 - '98, plus the Olympics. 6 3 Quote
Subdeacon Joe Posted October 1 Posted October 1 That's a twofer! You met an Olympic champion, and she got some public recognition out of the blue. And, Well Done! to be able to put it together 30 some years later. 1 1 Quote
