Mustang Gregg Posted September 30 Posted September 30 (edited) I'm looking for a .308 Win Browning Traditional Hunter. Or else Winchester's version, the High Wall Hunter. Either with or without sights is fine. It's the 28" octagon model and has the shotgun type butt plate. Much obliged, Mustang Gregg 38456 L Edited October 1 by Mustang Gregg typo 1 Quote
Bailey Creek,5759 Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I didn't know they made it in 308. If you want a lever action. Don't overlook Winchester model 88 in 308. 1 Quote

One option you have is to not delete the PM, pull down on the three dots at the upper right and choose "report." Ask for the SASS office to verify the individual. Vetting is an occasional question on this forum, sometimes another member can vouch for them if they have shot together at a club. No interested party should ever take such a request as a problem due to the high scammer level in the Classifieds. I also encourage you to review the following thread: The thread is filled with markers of the "frequent flyers" on the forum. And since you are looking to buy a gun, do not use PayPal or any other cash app to do so. Besides not having protection for a bad deal, the app company will ban you and not return the money even if they do recover it. This said, there is no requirement to be a SASS member to respond to a post in the Classifieds and an alias may not be official. But may still be a legitimate seller who has what you seek. This does happen. If you have doubts, feel free to post more questions. The only restriction I put is to not post your personal contact info and do not post the potential sellers personal contact information (unless it matches info in the above scammer thread, then confirm or even add to it); we do have to respect legitimate privacy. Still nothing wrong with caution. You may direct the seller to this post should there be "umbrage" for being questioned. Another thing the seller could do is post pics of the offered gun in this WTB thread (no pics in PMs, and no reason at this point to provide your real eMail address) with significant bonus points for including a note in the picture with their forum name, the current date, and for fun, the (actually worthless but fun) words "I am not a scammer." There are several members here who know how to check for photoshop or AI artifacts so do not be afraid to ask. So now my sense of this specific member... Duostunsail joined Tuesday and has no post history on this forum. Any prove-up is definitely in his court; most new members are looking for gear, not selling it. And then we tell them to go to a shoot before buying anything. One detail which would push the contact even more toward scam is if you were sent an email address of a friend of his who actually has what you seek. I know of no case where this led to a successful purchase. Edited October 4 by John Kloehr 1 Quote
Mustang Gregg Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 (edited) I let one of the listed Wire Moderators know. Duostunsail also left me a WA phone no. But no answer. Maybe he's not a scammer. I'll give him the benefit of doubt. But he has NOT gotten back to me. Mustang Edited October 4 by Mustang Gregg Quote
