Yes they do....they disrespect the US in every way possible, coddle terrorist organizations and countries, attempt to influence US elections and are anti-American. The US should leave the UN and kick their butts out of the US. 8 1 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted September 28 Posted September 28 We really should inspect the sculpture closely to see what it would take to cut the knot off of the barrel some night! It’d look great as a snubby!! 5 5 Quote

J-BAR #18287 Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I don't know for a fact, but the UN delegates may be a source of intelligence for the US. If not, I agree they should find some other country to bother. I like the idea of converting the sculpture into a snubby--maybe a Fitz Special! 😁 4 1 Quote
Rip Snorter Posted September 28 Posted September 28 A relic of WWII. Look at the Security Council - UK and France? The org has been primarily anti US for decades and we have been paying a great deal more than our share. Evict the bums. 6 1 Quote
Subdeacon Joe Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I say leave it, but require the UN to lead by example. No armed guards at the UN. No delegations or delegates to have armed guards or personal firearms. No law enforcement by any American agencies to provide any security. UN Peacekeepers to be unarmed. No armed guards for any UN agency, department, organization, etc. in the field. 4 Quote

Rye Miles #13621 Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 So the twisted revolver statue is there because of John Lennon? OMG gimme a break! Key Details The Inspiration: Reuterswärd created the bronze sculpture in 1980 as a tribute to his friend John Lennon after Lennon was murdered in New York City. The knotted barrel renders the oversized Colt Python .357 Magnum completely unusable, serving as a symbol of peace and gun violence prevention. How It Got to the UN: The Government of Luxembourg purchased the artwork and donated it to the United Nations. Installation: It was officially installed outside the UN Headquarters in Manhattan in June 1988 during a ceremony attended by Yoko Ono, Reuterswärd, and UN Secretary-General Javier Pérez de Cuéllar. I hope that they were forced to listen to Yoko "sing" for at least two hours during dedication ceremony. 2 Quote

A suggestion: if the UN stays in business throw it out of the U. S. and make sure that the HQ for it is in the nation where the Secretary General is from. Do away with their benefits, especially their Diplomatic Immunity where it apples to violation of all local government laws such as traffic laws, behavior laws. etc. Let them live in the country with its local facilities like roads, electricity, plumbing, education, sanitation, police units, airports, housing, shops and stores, people, etc. Withdraw our monetary support for the UN except for our fair share of the rent and justifiable services. See how they deal with that. Pull our all of their facilities except for justifiable and proven embassies and consolates. Limit the number of people allowed for each country's UN and embassy and consul employees. Stay with it for a year or two and if it doesn't work, pull out of that mostly useless and overwhelmingly anti-American attitudes ridden trash pile altogether and permanently. Three Foot Johnson Posted September 29 Posted September 29 If the roles were reversed and this were a sculpture meant to provoke Leftist Democrats instead, a mob would have torn it down in the first week or two. 7 1 Quote
