J-BAR #18287 Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Crud builds up in my RCBS bottom pour casting furnace especially when using wheel weight lead. So I disassembled the valve-pour mechanism and cleaned everything up. The problem was I buggered the tiny screw that secures the valve stem to the handle, and Ace Hardware did not have a replacement. So I used a 65 cent hitch pin to hold those parts in alignment, which should also make future cleaning faster and easier. Kinda proud that I came up with a good solution! 13 Quote
Rip Snorter Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Clever idea! If you decide to look further for the screw, and there is a Fastenal near you, they are hard to stump. 1 1 Quote

The bin containing it and its companions at Ace Hardware was labelled "hitch pin"... I knew what I was looking for even if the name is wrong! Quote
