Cypress Sun Posted September 10 Posted September 10 My American flag is 40 years old. It is dingy and faded, but not tattered or torn. It replaced a cotton flag that I had been given to me by a veteran of WWII. It was replaced with a nylon, made in the USA flag. Twenty-five years ago tomorrow, I left work early. Made it home just after the second tower fell. The first thing I did when I got home was put my flag up. I flew it proudly for exactly a year. Tomorrow, the same flag will fly in solemn honor of the folks that died twenty-five years ago. 8 7 Quote

I am disgusted by the stories I've seen the last week about events to commemorate the 25 year mark being called "celebrations". I'll never forget. But I'm damn-sure not going to celebrate. 7 1 Quote

Many of us Combat Vets say "We warned America but you let us down", that hits hard. Its Americas fight now. Not Mine unless it comes to my door , America can fight for its own home. America wasnt ever at war, The Marines, Army , Navy, Air Farce and Coast Guard(yep had some coasties in Iraq) were at war America was at the Starbucks complaining. Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 (edited) In all of the recent rhetoric and hard feelings, please remember things like: Gander and Newfoundlanders welcome and their aid to strangers as well as the Canadians, who served and those who returned via the Highway of Heroes. Not good enough!!! Not by a long shot. We lost more people in The Twin Towers than we did at Pearl Harbor...and for THAT attack we helped destroy entire nations, much of the world's infrastructure, millions of people, and became the world's top nation militarily, economically, and politically in four violent years. We assisted many nations to survive and recover. In payment many have since turned on us in most every possible way, and have dragged us into yet more military encounters, often with they themselves just barely engaging the enemies, and expecting the USA to save their asses again and again. Since 1945 the USA has fought many battles. but not one real war. We walked away from Korea, and Vietnam, were in and out of several more conflicts, including a multi-decade embarrassment going on still today in the Middle East, a 60 year old too late attempt to take care of Iran, and the list grows longer by the day. We are losing so much and in so many vital areas, and no one seems to really care, especially our our elected Royalty and Nobility and those who vote for them and NEVER have to pay the cost. Quote

Gunny trust me i have to add 270 Marines 23 Oct 83 to that list we wanted more but like many Vietnam vets will also say they wouldnt let us . America hasnt won a war since generals stopped dying in them. Too many of them political and well invested in those defense companies. Quote
Trailrider #896 Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Of course we couldn't really do this for a lot of reasons, including possibly starting WWIII with Russia & China...BUT... if Iran wants a nuclear weapon, we should give them one...about 350KT right into Pickaxe Mountain, and maybe several others!
