Montana Greg Posted Wednesday at 08:09 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:09 PM What is going on with the SASS classifieds? They use to run 7 pages or more, now down to 2? Quote
John Kloehr Posted Wednesday at 08:14 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:14 PM Scammers in part, and only "active" threads. A seller keeps it active by bumping it at least once a week. Quote

Anyone, member or not, can post a comment on an existing thread or offer to purchase an item or items on the Classifieds. By limiting purchasers to only valid SASS members would severely restrict the number of prospective buyers available to purchase items for sale. Do sellers need to be careful, hell yes....but it is up to the seller or buyer to validate the authenticity of the prospective purchaser or seller. Look at how many times scammers like Todd German, Robert Colton and others have scammed SELLERS and buyers out of money and materials. There is a list of known scammers at the top of the Classifieds page....read it for Gods sake....and your own. 4 2 Quote
Eliphalet R. Moderator Posted Thursday at 06:53 PM Posted Thursday at 06:53 PM A Classified ads only lasts for one week after the last comment is made. (The person who posted the ad could make it run forever just by adding a one-word comment once a week.) So, unattended, ignored, or sold posts go away on their own. This is a slow season. There are many more ads posted during spring and fall. Nothing unusual is happening. 3 Quote

Most of the problems happen when someone has their contact information posted somewhere, and they've answered an ad, wanting to buy. Or, they have posted a WTB ad. A BIG thank you to all those who have kept an eye on ads and alerted us when someone posts their personal contact info! The help is greatly appreciated! 4 3 Quote
John Kloehr Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Dropping back in to this thread with a related comment. Since the Classifieds are now only live items, I am finding them much more useful and easier to go through. So extending a thanks to the mods for cleaning it up and "curating" the threads. Quote

Can't disagree, but I'm sure there will be times I'll miss not being able to look back at "going prices". Minor in the overall scope! Quote
