How old is this?

Anybody have any idea how old this Hodgdon H110 powder is?  I called Hodgdon and they couldn’t give me an exact date even with the Deitte code on the side of the can.

 

ive been around the reloading business since the mid 1980’s and don’t recall ever seeing Hodgdon’s powder in metal cans.  Seems like they were all cardboard canisters in those days (except DuPont).

I faintly recall those style of cans back in the mid-70's.

 

I started reloading around 1975.  And one of my favorites was H110.

Before I got into reloading, a friend of mine reloaded my .38/357 ammo for only $5 a box of 50.

 

it was my brass.....but his primers, bullets, powder and time.

I had some like that in the mid 90s and for that price when I first started reloading.

Old Hodgdon powder cans are sold on ebay for $10-$20.

 

Might as well test the powder in a few rounds and see if it works.  Otherwise, I would spread it as fertilizer in the garden and keep the can as a conversation piece.

Well the can has never been opened so I’ll have to try loading a few rounds.

have a feeling if it was stored reasonably well its good , but do save that can its in excellent condition - sellable
