Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Well, I plan to go out and look up at a pile of rain clouds.........or maybe I'll just stay in the house where it's dry. 1 Quote
Rye Miles #13621 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Supposed to get almost full coverage here at 10:30 est Quote
J-BAR #18287 Posted August 28 Posted August 28 10:25. Moon rose full, now the earth's shadow is covering at least 2/3s, angling up from about 8 o'clock on the lunar disc. Remarkably clear tonight in Springfield. MO. Beautiful! 2 Quote

Well, I'll be dipped. I went out to see what my dog was barking about. I hadn't been out side in a couple of hours and the sky had cleared and there she was: a pinkish slice of the moon, maybe 25% of the top of it. Interesting but really quite anti-climatic. I've seen some before, a couple of full eclipses, and three solar eclipses. Perseid meteor showers and aurora borealis are a better show, and sunsets and rainbows are the best. The Big Rock Candy Mountain in southern Utah is great too...if you catch it after a rain storm and the sun is just right. Otherwise it's just a pile of dirt and rock. And a full moon on a really clear night over a snow-covered valley in the Rocky Mountains can be the most peaceful and beautiful scene you can imagine. The Sonoran Desert at sunset, sunrise, under a full moon, or after a rain is an eye-popper, too. Y'all know what? God gets downright artistic every now and again. You simply have to go out and look. Get up from your TV or computer, take a ride out side the air and / or light pollution area, day or night, and sit back, relax, and enjoy. Take a friend or lover, your kids or a group of any little kids, even the family dog and turn off the damned computers, TVs, radios, and all that other man-made crap off and LOOK! Sure wish my wife was still here to enjoy it all. 2 Quote
Rye Miles #13621 Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I could only see a sliver of the moon because it was covered by clouds. It also rained sometime around 1:am😡 1 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I’d had a pretty rough day yesterday and had cashed out for the evening. Hatfield said it was pretty good! Almost total here with only a pink sliver of our natural satellite visible at the height of the event. Quote
