This is practically a carbon copy of the parameters and boundaries that I have proposed here in the past!

 

Violent felons and domestic abusers will have the “presumption against having their rights restored” and would be required to produce extraordinary reasons for possible consideration of relief.

 

 I can go along with this. That it is NOT automatic is also, to my way of thinking, the proper way to handle restoration.  If a person has chosen to step outside the laws of our society, they should be required to demonstrate that they are now willing to resume lawful citizenship and reasonable behavior!

 

AND!!  Once a criminal has been convicted of a second separate felony offense, there should be even stricter scrutiny, if any relief is to be given at all!!  Recidivism should result in an automatic and permanent disqualification.

They have always had an avenue for the restoration of someone’s gun rights. The problem that they ran into is that it has to be funded and Congress is never funded it so that’s what we gotta hope for not just this but Congress funding that restoration for some 65 year old grandpa who smoked one of them funny cigarettes when he was 18 or 19 and lost his rights and became a prohibited personbecause of it.  And I know there’s gonna be people that’s going to jump in there and say no I’m wrong but if they read the law and they read that form, they will find out no I’m not because it specifically ask about the use of a controlled substance it’s not under the care of a physician.
