Best Source for Cast Lead Bullets

Been away from reloading and shooting for quite a spell and just joined a nice club in Central Florida. Need to stock up on some 45 LC bullets. Right now the names I have are Missouri Bullets and Badman. Is there any supplier that is particularly preferred by Sass members of late due to quality and delivery? Thanks in advance.

Find out who delivers to matches you attend.  Shipping charges are a big part of any bullet order.  Buying from casters who ship in USPS 70-lbs packages helps too. I have loaded and shot Scarlett's bullets and would do so again.  Missouri Bullets will give you a 10% discount with code SASS.  Consider switching to coated bullets if you have not already done so.  Your dies will stay cleaner, and you won't handle bare metallic lead.

 

Cast bullets for CAS are a commodity and most casters produce adequate bullets for main match shooting.  OLG will probably recommend Bear Creek bullets.  They are good too.

I'll bet OLG to it. For my main match bullets, I prefer the coated bullets from Bear Creek Supply. I will be going to Outlaw Bullets for some specialty long range main match rifle bullets. For my BPCR rifles, The Bull Shop in Dell MT is the best.

For my 45 Colt needs, I prefer Badman bullets, coated or plain.  They use a BP friendly lube so when I want, I don't have to bother removing the old lube and relubing with a BP friendly lube.

All my coated bullets come from Scarlett, and all my lead cast bullets come from Outlaw Bullets.  I buy from them at bigger matches around the Southeast, saving shipping.  Both are good people to deal with.  

 

It looks like the OP is out of Florida.  I'm pretty sure both Scarlett and Outlaw Bullets will be at the Florida State match next spring.

I get bullets from a variety of places, sometimes depends on who has what I am looking for in stock or is maybe running a sale or special.  I have switched from lubed bullets to mostly all coated bullets for my 38's as the price difference isn't that much and I now run bullet feeders.  Places I buy from in no particular order: Missouri Bullet Company, Outlaw Bullets, Slippery Bullets, Bishop Enterprises, Bullet Boss, Summit City Bullets, Bustin Head Lead, Bullets by Scarlett, Bang and Clang and Bear Creek Supply.

The owner of Bang and Clang, George Martin passed away this year - not sure the business is shipping bullets any longer.

 

+1 to the others who recommend buying from casters who deliver to major matches.  The cheapest shipping is when bullets are passed from the back of the casters truck to your vehicle.  Such casters are often match sponsors who help fund the matches we shoot.

I'll second, or maybe third, the Outlaw Bullets recommendation. Tony and Pops are great guys to work with, and they make top-notch bullets. Both are at most every State match in the Southeast, so save on shipping. I'm pretty sure they'll be at Ambush next month too.

   I'm a big fan of Bear Creek Bullet. I use them in all calibers I shoot. I recently started using his 125 gr. hollow base 38s, they seat a little deeper in the case and help seal the chamber.

I’ve ordered from Scarlett before also but I currently get my bullets from two local sources, Patriots Casting, and Doc Adam’s.bullets. They’re both cowboy shooters and come to the shoots.

I really like MB 140 grain TCFP in 38/357.

at 1.545 inches.  With 2.7 grains of Bullseye.

In 38 brass I get about 650 FPS in 6.5 inch barreled Blackhawks and around 800 in carbines.  
in thicker 357 brass about 690 and 820 fps.

 

For non Sass with 5 grains of bullseye in the 357 brass I get about 1000 fps in the pistols and 1200 in the carbines.

 

I like their 180grain RNFP in 45 colt.  I made some loads at 1.585 with 4.7 grains of bullseye.

in a modern SAA with a 5 inch barreled Blackhawks they are around 625fps, an old one or old clone with looser cup, etc. About 525.

in a carbine about 875.

 

For non sass I use 250 grain semi jacketed HP bullets with win 296/h110 at around 1200/1600 fps Redhawk/carbine, 

WAP / Ramshot Sillouette I topped out around 1100/1350.

 

i did not have good luck with heavy load accuracy with 44 mag with h110.

accurate #9 I was getting good accuracy at around 1200 fps in a super BH and 1500 in a carbine.
