J-BAR #18287 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 Pueblo, Colorado had just gotten TV service... I got to watch Ike's inauguration at elementary school (3rd grade). Well, what I actally saw was the glow of a 17" TV screen from about 80 feet away, and the TV speaker could not be heard over the noise made by a few hundred other kids. Dapper Dave Posted August 9 Posted August 9 My stepdad liked Ike when he was the supreme commander in WWII, and he was flying with the AAF. He didn't have much to say about him as a president. He was long gone by the time I was aware of politics...the first election I can really remember was Carter. Quote
Rye Miles #13621 Posted August 9 Posted August 9 My parents were FDR democrats, they lived through the depression and always said how FDR helped them, I’m sure they voted dem but I remember as a kid my dad saying he liked Ike. Later he also said Reagan was doing a good job even though he didn’t vote for him. I think my dad was a “closet republican “ 😂😂😂 Quote
