Reproduction .44 WCF ammo boxes

I used to own several of the reproduction cardboard ammunition boxes for .44 WCF. I can't find any for sale now. Does anyone know of a source?

Cheyenne is gone.

What I have done is scan the boxes into my computer, and then print them and use gorilla clear packing tape to affix them to generic white carboard boxes I get from Midway.

 

I've made a few .45 Boxes this way, but so far, have not had a need for any .44-40.   

If you don't have any of the Cheyenne's to make copies of, you can find a lot of interesting looking vintage boxes in just about any caliber online and use them to make your boxes.   I did that for .380, for example.

Yeap, and was explained in the PM to him. This is a photo of the newer ones. I think they are all sold out. I have no idea if they will make them again.

And as long as we are at it...




The 45 Colt is a scan of the Cheyanne box.   Print the sheet, use a paper cutter, and tape the labels to a plain white one.


The .380 is a pic I found online.   The cartridge by itself is just a cut from the one in the center of the pic.

Again print, and use the paper cutter to trim to tape to the box.   

 

Here's what they wound up looking like affixed to the plain white boxes.

As you can see I am still experimenting with scale.  The .45 labels came out too small, and the .380 came out the exact same size as the box, so I has to trim away the red.   I'll try to refine them further.

That's another way to do it for sure.

I think what I will do tonight is scan the folded up box, and then overlay the labels on the scan so I know the scale is correct, and then try printing that   If it works, I'll post the results for some different calibers.

 

This is turning out to be fun!

I have been making my own cartridge boxes for several years. Midway U.S.A. has the boxes available and they work well. I looked on the internet for old box labels and downloaded the ones I wanted. Then I sized them to the correct size with a photo App. Finally, I printed then onto an 8" x 11" mailing label sheet. You can get two or three labels on a sheet depending on the size.
