Sure looks like a cowboy with a cavalry length single action.

No news media posted anything about the civilian not even Fox News! This guy is a hero for stepping up and taking action! 👍🇺🇸

I saw this on a news site in the Tampa area. Not much was said about the guy with the pistol that may have prevented the killer from further shooting.

Looks more like a bull barreled Ruger.

In any case, guys like this should be the ones glorified in the o ress, not the thugs.

There's a photo on the New York Post website.  No ID mentioned although the investigation is in progress.

This showed up on my FB just now:

This is Jordan Salinas.

FB_IMG_1785680770499.jpg.e4eda4e08ec61853405effac78a4d5e8.jpg

In October 2024 he posted this training video (NB: NO LINK PROVIDED) with his suppressed FN Five-seveN, writing:

“Train like your life depends on it

Because God forbid, one day it might

Stay free, stay safe and stay frosty 🇺🇸

Yesterday in Twin Falls, that day came.

When a rifle-wielding shooter opened fire at the In-N-Out, a civilian with a handgun stepped up and engaged him — helping stop the attack and almost certainly saving lives.

Multiple sources are identifying that man as Jordan Salinas.

Preparation met opportunity.

I get the feeling we're all so used to things like news being instant, we've forgotten some things, like law enforcement investigations, take time.  The shooting happened YESTERDAY, kids.  Let's give the police a chance to get the investigation going and get  to the bottom of the facts.

Fox News finally reported on the civilian shooter slowing down the bad guy! I guess maybe they wanted to make sure it was for real and not just a internet fantasy.

The low-life offed himself according to recent reports. This cowboy may have helped bring this about by engaging him. Would rather he got caught and tried and convicted with a sentence of life in prison... But this cowboy might have prompted a sooner exit, so better this way than if he kept killing. And like the gun grabbers say, "if it saves one life..." They should say "if it saves one life other than the shooter."

Will be interested in learning more as confirmed facts come out.

My fear for all of this is the family of the perp suing the daylights out of the cowboy for aiding in the takedown.  While he did a heroic thing, I can see the court system getting clogged with lawsuits based on "our family member was turning his life around, how could you shoot an innocent person, blah, blah, blah".  The fact this guy has video's on the web with him training, especially in tactical gear, won't help things.

I realize that's not the way things SHOULD be, but it is the way things are.............

That’s a valid point and I hope the good guy has a lawyer ready!

The only good thing was the bad guy offed himself, not much of a case against the good guy since he didn’t shoot him at all. Still, I hope he has an attorney just in case.

Easy to make excuses for what MIGHT happen in the future for not  getting involved in what is happening NOW.

I never said don't get involved.  I am eluding to the fact that there are often unintended consequences for getting involved.  We can pray the cowboy doesn't have to face any of those unintended consequences.

So far, accurate information is spotty: we know who the good guys are, we know the off duty troop was engaging from inside the store, the fellow with the suppressed Five-Seven was outside -- but engagement distance remains a question.

Eli Dickens' action prompted the "Dickens Drill" for accurate hits at extended distance.

Can't help but think there will now be an "Idaho Drill."

He is in Idaho, so I doubt he'll face a civil suit, but your comment is a very real concern in blue states or where there is a prosecutor who doesn't like gunowners.  There have been discussions on a regional firearms related discussion board, and many have posted that their primary and maybe only concern is getting themselves and any loved ones away from the shooting scene and they have no intention of engaging a mass shooter because they fear criminal charges and possibly civil suits.

I have little doubt that CT, MA & RI will try hard to find a way prosecute even a clear-cut case of self-defense.   The details are hazy and it's been some time since I read the alleged story, but MA held an investigation of clear-cut case of self-defense open for a year before they finally closed the case.

Mad Mommies and such have been focusing on two messages. He could have hit an innocent bystander (by accident) even though the shooter was doing the same on purpose.and that the shooter offed himself (discounting engagement on any front might have spurred the shooter to do so). Third message set seems to revolve around out favorite new cowboy hero could have been subject to LE targeting him; I'll grant this is a legitimate risk for anyone choosing to act but this did not happen, our new favorite cowboy then switched to rendering aid to victims.
